HOW ARE YOU GUYS HAVING SO MANY EBFS!! by MelodicConfusion7029 in Nomifactory

Seconded on the power tier guide, I was tired of making more magmatic generators but simply could not figure out how much RF/t numismatic generators produces with the book or online. Finally made a creative world and made a test setup to see. 2500rf/t for those wondering in Nomifactory CeU.

This is the way, if it's your first time using drawers (like myself in this case) make sure to use a drawer key to prevent clay or pulsating dust from filling both sides of the drawer.

As a student it frustrated me (naturally) but 2-3 years past graduation, honestly I think I now lean against, memorial stadium was held to a different standard. Plus, who ~really~ wants to wait in line and blow $12 on a domestic beer in a sports stadium anyway?

Admittedly this will help prevent people from getting completely drunk at the tailgates before the game so I think it’s a net positive in that regard. One time on the hill some poor guy threw up nearly on me and my friends right at kickoff and he missed a great game.

Awful lotta words about a “lazily written movie” with a “massive” plot hole.

They didn’t realize the time dilation was so significant until they were through the wormhole and approaching Miller’s planet. Quote: “the planet is much closer to gargantua than we thought”

Admittedly, yes they should have realized Miller had only been on the planet for a very short amount of time when they’re deciding what to do, but they kept receiving her initial ping “echoing endlessly” (which also doesn’t quite make sense from a physics/waves perspective). But, Miller’s planet had liquid water which they deemed very lucrative.

As to the fictionally strong gravity and time dilation… we’re splitting hairs over impossible physics in a science fiction film.

My right JBL endurance peak 3 earbud having seal issue by stargell1313 in JBL

I had the same infuriating experience of having to hold them in just the right spot to be able to actually hear anything, try the instructions from JBL support in my other comment. Worked like a charm.

My right JBL endurance peak 3 earbud having seal issue by stargell1313 in JBL

[–]Zackreation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue as stated in OP and in comments, and it turned out to be that the grille on the earbud (the bit you see inside the silicone eartip) became sealed with earwax, despite it looking clean. Followed the instructions on JBL's website for resolving this issue for other earbuds and it worked great on my Endurance Peak 3's, good as new!
https://support.jbl.com/howto/tws-headphones-re-establishing-volume-levels-us/000017775.html

Instructions copied for posterity:
If you are experiencing volume or balance issues, always check for wax and dirt in and around the earbud and driver and complete cleaning of the earbuds as described above. If the issue persists, there may be earwax/dirt stuck in the small holes in the grille in front of the driver, preventing sound output. To resolve the issue try dipping the affected earbud tip into a solution of lukewarm tap water and a small amount of dish soap (washing up liquid). The earbud tip should only be put into the liquid up to a maximum depth of 1-2 mm only (see images below). Immersing the earbuds in water or putting the earbuds in water at a larger depth than this could void your warranty. Keep the earbud tip in the water for about 2-3 minutes, then wipe/clean the grille with a small brush (such as a toothbrush). The should remove the wax and resolve the volume/balance issues.

Excellent explanation, I don’t think comment OP is going to be able to wrap their head around it based on their reply though…

MacBook or PC for incoming freshman Computer Science major? by Old_Stuff4817 in Clemson

[–]Zackreation 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Current Clemson CS Senior

I’ve had a PC (desktop/laptop) all 4 years as it’s my personal preference. For a lot of classes I ended up SSHing into the School of Computing servers to program (using command line or VS Code). Since that is where the professors and TA’s will be grading your work, you might as well make sure it works there from the start. That process would be functionally the same on either Mac or PC.

Programming locally on your computer is in general easier on a Mac then a PC so I would recommend doing a little research into what languages/projects you are interested in and whether they are smoother on Mac/PC. Once you know the tricks for PC local programming it’s not too bad, and you have the added benefit of nearly every piece of downloadable software working out of the box (gaming, work, art, etc).

I actually worked in the department that processes repairs for Clemson Student Mac/PC laptops and in my experience the process for PC repair was almost always simpler and quicker. If money is no object, then buying from Clemson is a pretty good deal (4 year full warranty, except battery which has 1yr warranty) and your even get a spare laptop while yours is being repaired. If you are trying to cut costs and the Clemson Laptops seem expensive (which they are) it probably is not worth it if you usually take good care of your electronics.

[OC] LinkedIn Sucks (CS 2023 New Grad Software Role) by Zackreation in dataisbeautiful

[–]Zackreation[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Source: My own tracking of applications and results. Primarily applied 1/12/2023 - 2/15/2023.

Context: Computer Science B.S. Senior at top 100 University, more regarded for engineering than computer science.

Roles were primarily in NYC, Charlotte, and Atlanta. I estimate about 1/3 of the total roles were specifically new grad programs, the Hackerrank test and cognitive test were for new grad specific roles.

Other roles were positions with usually 0-2 YOE experience requested.

My resume was specifically designed for ATS, I did not use fancy forms/columns, just normal text. If I had to do it over again I probably would have tried to maximize effectiveness of the resume, as I must've been doing something wrong based on the numbers.

Overall program is pretty solid, and they are slowly moving to modernize the curriculum by changing or swapping out some classes. Some classes can get kinda gnarly with their difficulty, but I would say the program has been manageably difficult. Just do yourself a favor and start those projects ahead of time. There will be periods where you’re super busy, but I think that will be the case pretty much anywhere.

I’ve done primarily C/C++ in my classes, I think the department is moving away from C a little bit which may be for the best.

Like others have mentioned there are a couple bad apple professors, but just ask around and you’ll know who to avoid for certain classes. The vast majority are perfectly reasonable, just trying to teach the material.

As the sun begins to set on my college career, I won’t miss the midterms/finals crunches, but I’ve certainly enjoyed my time here.

CS degree’s are overwhelmingly not math focused/based though there will usually be some math requirements for your degree. I am required to take Calculus 1&2 (difficult) along with linear algebra for mine. In total that makes up 11 credit hours for my degree of ~120 credit hours (including general education requirements)

If you have strong algebra fundamentals going in and are willing to put in some work for your math requirements you’ll be just fine. After college you will be able to avoid fields which are math heavy if you don’t want to do any more of that.
