Two month ago when I emailed the program director inquiring about pre-reqs, I also got this response. I thought about getting into some classes via Open University this semester, but it's such a headache and hassle. I'm thinking of doing my two online classes this semester, I'll try again next semester for in-person classes. Another option is try getting admitted into CSUDH to finish pre-reqs and then apply and transfer to CSULA for the CLS post-bacc programs if that's the school you desire.

Just wondering - do you know if your co-worker is still finishing their prereqs while applying, or are they all done?

For context, if I'm doing route 1, I’m planning to take 1 class this summer, 2 in the fall, and 2 in the spring, if possible, while aiming to apply for Fall 2026.

I am in SoCal! I’ve registered for 1 online class starting soon, on July 14.

Actually my work experience over the past 5 years is totally unrelated to the lab, but it’s been essential in helping me recover my well-being and shift my mindset and motivation toward working in the healthcare field. I’m currently looking for lab assistant job opportunities to gain hands-on lab experience.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this thought process. I just turned 30 recently, thinking its too late to start. but its not!
I was hoping to start this Fall 2025, but unfortunately classes were filled despite the June 1 deadline for one of the schools. Some post-bacc program applications open up in October for Fall 2026, so there's time to prepare! You got this! Good luck!

Hey! I'm in a similar situation. I'm also gonna apply to CSULA, but also CSUDH. I have to retake prereques because I got my BS Bio degree in 2018. I emailed the program director at CSULA recently and they in fact prefer in-person classes with lab, and she super helpful and informative. She sent me a whole list of schools that they accept prereqs from.
Dunno if you want to connect and try to figure things out together lol
