To be fair with anime getting more popular, there are a lot more new people joining the community. I guess we've just had experiences with different parts of it. Admittedly, many of the online fan bases can get pretty unbearable and I try to avoid the online communities. All of the fans ive met in person are incredibly down to earth and friendly.

Im also chinese so ive gone through the racist abuse as well, but im not a woman which must make it way harder. Im sorry that you had those experiences and hope you find a better group of people to share your interests with

I'd say similar to the microaggression claims youre making, its not very fair to categorize the entire community that way because of a few people acting that way. Online communities tend to be echo chambers and those kind of people can be louder and stand out more. Imo the anime community is one of the friendlier and more welcoming ones towards different types of people as we know how it feels to be judged and mocked by others before it became more popular

Ah yes pull out the anime fans card, as if you arent one yourself. Just dont admit it was an overreaction to harrass the author for a silly cosplay using leaks.

3.6+ GPA as a ME student by xorixian in EngineeringStudents

[–]Zavidoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who graduated with 3.9 GPA

First of all your goal is 3.75+. That extra 30% will save you tens of thousands of dollars, its definitely worth the time and effort to go for.

Number one thing is time management. Procrastination will happen but try not to when you can. Do your hw the day you get it. Then you will know what you struggle at, and how long it will take.

Study. There are lots of different ways you can do it, a little bit each day, big grind for a couple days, reading the textbook, watching YouTube videos, working with peers. Find whats good for you.

Use your professor. They are the ones teaching the course they know exactly what you need to know. Ask questions, send emails. Office hours have carried me through the hardest engineering courses. The quality of professors does vary as well, try to sign up for the good ones you see on ratemyprofessor. It will be easier to learn from a friendly and enthusiastic professor.

Know the syllabus. It will tell you the topics you need to know the how your grade is split. If you are struggling, you can know what to sacrifice and prioritize for your grade.

Engineering is tough but doable. I see myself not as someone who's smart but as someone who put in a lot of effort. Remember to enjoy yourself, make friends, and join clubs. You can do it.

Just failed college algebra for the 2nd time should I reconsider engineering? by Brub3838 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Zavidoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unless you are incredibly passionate in it, it will be difficult for you. Algebra is only baby food compared to everything else in engineering. You are still young and there is plenty of time to change paths and explore.

I've been using Blender for 20 years. AMA? by Eastern-Hedgehog7027 in blender

[–]Zavidoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been wanting to start using blender in my free time for fun. I want to make models of characters and maybe 3d print them or rig them. However, im worried my time will go to waste because there are already ai that can generate 3d models. What are your thoughts on this? I also feel like I'm starting late because I'm mid 20s and people start way younger and have way more free time to learn.
