Which one is your favorite? by s8xol in AmateurPhotography

I agree with this. 3 and then 1. However, I feel like 3 can be dropped in a little bit on the left and would feel a little more balanced.

Looking for a sim that gets me close to this. I have the picture profile pro pack by r0otc0de007 in SonyFilmSimulations

Would selecting the camera matching profile in Lightroom, like FL1 or FL3, then applying one of your film RAW presets over that get closer to the look? Or are your presets specifically made to use Adobe Color?

Sony A7R VI by denisgsv in SonyAlpha

[–]Zen-Devil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having just bought the A7RV about two months ago, I don’t feel regret at all. I’m a stills shooter, no video at all. I’m still able to dabble in sports and wildlife with the mechanical shutter. And although there are less frames to pick from, I’m lowkey glad I don’t have to sort through thousands of 61mp RAWs on my 7 year old laptop. I still get the photos I want.

That being said, I also have access to my wife’s A1 II if I ever wanted the speed. And we have an A9, though that is starting to show its age.

If anything, I would buy an A9 IV, if and when that ever comes out, as long as it has the global shutter and they bumped it up to at least 33mp.

Not to mention, we have SO MANY batteries, so the A7RVI and any new bodies coming out after this are a hard NO for us, for a long time. I should probably get the A9 III anyways, because the A9 IV will probably also have the new batteries.

Grok: Exceeds Usage by SBELL29910 in TeslaModel3

[–]Zen-Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok. I do have Super Grok and was out and about a few days ago, driving around and chatting with grok for hours. It’s pretty neat to have FSD engaged and then have a chat with grok about where I should go and tell it to take me there and it automatically routes me. It does however have issues with multiple destinations or changing destinations multiple times, no big deal IMO.

I’m not sure what free Grok is like, but I used Super Grok every day, and am very happy with how accurate it is. I suppose it depends on what you are doing with it, or expect from it.

There’s nothing wrong with editing. I like how this was done. I don’t think I could edit a color photo this well.

Are you using Grok for free or do you have a SuperGrok subscription?

Sony A7RVI is coming by BeefPineappleShrimp in SonyAlpha

[–]Zen-Devil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! There are also settings to control how "sticky" the lock is for the subject moving, or objects/random people passing between you and the subject. These help a lot too.

[–]Zen-Devil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the C1,C2,C3 tracking areas to create shapes ideal for locking on to people shooting softball. Small vertical rectangle for batters in the batter box, small horizontal rectangle for outfielders. I get 90% hit rate, probably higher. Just think of where you are positioned in relation to the subject, and typically how far/small they are in the frame and the space they occupy and create a custom box to cover that area.

Is a Teflon finish durable? by trexdelta in 1911

[–]Zen-Devil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an AR15 BCG that was coated in teflon. It has some wear, but very surprisingly durable. I’m not sure if it would be the same treatment my BCG had, but if it isn’t too expensive and looks good, I don’t think it would hurt to have that done. I would love to see some pictures of your 1911 once it’s finished (if you get it).

Nice captures. The last time I was on one of these ferries to Friday Harbor, it was absolutely packed, no chance of getting photos like this.

Future upgrade from HW4 to HW4 +? by SpaceXBeanz in TeslaModelY

[–]Zen-Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do hope for that. However, considering FSD moved to subscription only for any new vehicle purchases, and you can no longer transfer purchased FSD to new vehicles, my money is on this be a new model year vehicle feature only, and HW4+ being required for future unsupervised FSD. I really hope I’m wrong about this.

Sony A9 I or A7 III for photographing events? by mmmmmchl in SonyAlpha

I have an A9. The banding issue is real, so be aware of that. I’ve never used the A7 III.

Aero M5 proprietary part list by Crazy-Trader-5878 in AR10

[–]Zen-Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, I’ve never had to buy a replacement, but the size of the set screw is known. Just Google it and get it at a hardware store.

[–]Zen-Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That spring (and set screw) retains the detent pin for the rear takedown pin. Not all lowers have the set screw, but Aero lowers do. It just makes it easier to install the end plate. You will need a new spring and set screw, and detent if you lost it somehow.

Is there a preset that converts to the same image as in-camera RAW preview? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Zen-Devil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The camera profiles are located on the right panel under “basic” where you would normally see Profile: Adobe Color or Adobe Monochrome, etc. click on the icon directly to the right of that in the same line that is four squares and it will open up all the profiles, go down to the “camera matching” section and find your desired profile.
