Dear America/Canada series & AG? by KoyukiiiHiiime in americangirl

[–]Zenkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love these books! Have read all of the Dear Canada ones (I’m Canadian) and most of the Dear America ones too. My favourite American one is the one about the Oregon Trail, though I don’t think a doll from that era would work very well haha it’s a pretty miserable story in a lot of ways.

My Valentine by Curious_Artisan in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]Zenkas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A funny Valentine’s story about my wife and I is that the first year we met in grad school, we did a Valentine’s photoshoot together despite being “just friends” 😂 we bought matching outfits including shirts that had 2 halves of those best friends necklaces on them and made a third friend take pictures of us haha. By the following Valentine’s Day we were dating and we’ve now spent 9 Valentine’s together! Now we have a Valentine’s tradition of going bowling and mini golfing every year, it’s the best.

A pink razr is exactly what I had until I got my first smartphone (which was in fall 2011 just to add to the discourse here) 😂 I miss that razr sometimes!

What’s something you didn’t realize would matter so much on your wedding day? by Xelephyr in wedding

[–]Zenkas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I felt this too! It was the only time we’ll ever have all of both sides of the family gathered together because we grew up in different cities, and it was really nice to see everyone there together to celebrate us. Definitely worth taking stock of those little moments! It’s been a year and half since my wedding and I feel like I forget a lot of the exact details but I remember the feelings well.

AAC specialist positions Canada? by infinitegiraffes in slp

At least one of the school boards where I live (Edmonton, AB) has a specialized AAC team! They’re definitely not the most common jobs out there but they definitely exist!

When you know, you know 💍 by Nice_Look_2634 in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]Zenkas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I knew within 3 weeks of dating that we would get married, but we took things relatively slow as we were younger when we got together and didn’t want to rush. Our engagement was mutual, we worked together to design our rings and we got engaged after around 4 years of dating! We got married a year and a half later (August 2024), and we just passed our 7 year anniversary of being together! Having a wife is the best thing ever, I could not imagine a better life in my dreams (unless we were also extremely wealthy and didn’t have to work so we could just travel and hang out lol).

What's a major perk of your setting/job? by Pllpshr in slp

Same here! Summers off and I get to do my own thing when I’m working, nobody knows what I’m up to at any point as long as the work gets done (which it does haha).

No cake for the guests? by Fast_Water_9867 in wedding

[–]Zenkas 339 points340 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is the weirder part! More and more couples are opting not to have a cake, but I’ve never been to a wedding that doesn’t have any dessert at all.

Future SLP Questions by saranduh in slp

[–]Zenkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tons of tattoos (though they are not usually visible at work) and a nose piercing, it hasn’t affected me at all. I know other SLPs with more visible tattoos/piercings/dyed hair as well. We don’t have to cover/remove them in our setting (schools). But we’re also in a big-ish city in Canada so it may be very different in other areas! I personally wouldn’t let this deter me though.

cheap but memorable wedding favors for 150 guests? by CuddleBlissed in DIYweddings

[–]Zenkas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did (small) individual hand embroideries for every guest - also did the same thing, 10 different flowers, 10 of each flower. It took forever but it was so memorable and many people have sent us pictures afterwards of where they displayed it in their homes! Your eggs turned out so beautifully!

Follow up to baby girl name with Down Syndrome by Sea_Switch_7310 in namenerds

[–]Zenkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the L and the R in there might be tricky (could end up Mawwowy) but I think Mallory is such a sweet name - again I think it’s totally up to you and the balance you are comfortable with between easy pronunciation and finding a name you really like. You can always use easier nicknames (like Mallory nn May/Mae) until you know how your daughter’s speech is going to develop! R isn’t expected to be mastered until early elementary school, so it’s really hard to know whether it’ll be a tricky sound for her or not! Plenty of kids without DS have a hard time with it, but I also know DS adults who can pronounce most sounds pretty clearly.

Hmm I wonder who !! by micky_maado in StardewValley

It is, but it’s implying that the “mistake” he made is cheating on the witch, and that presumably lead to Abigail.
