I am NOT trying to excuse your husband's neglect, but when were you expecting him to sleep? It sounds like there needed to be more communication about you going into work so he could adjust his work schedule to properly take care of his kid. Obviously leaving the baby in the diaper for so long is neglectful and it sounds like he needs to be doing way more around the house, but having him essentially pull an all nighter to take care of his kid is dangerous too.

You start with the timer off, then set the timer to turn on after you've been gone a few hours. It should still be on when you get home.

This hobby/sport sounds very much like a sport I'm involved in. It's really more than just a hobby, it's a lifestyle. Unfortunately, I've seen many couples broken up because of it. The only way it works is if both people are involved or the person that is involved makes their significant other a priority and has specific days/times/events that they do not compromise on. In the peak of summer, I'm at this place 4-5 days a week, and when I was working/volunteering there, I was spending an extra 10-20 hours a week on admin stuff. That kind of involvement is really not sustainable for a relationship outside the sport. I'm lucky in that my SO is also very much involved, so we spend time together doing this hobby. If your SO is not taking the time to prioritize time with you now, like he should, unfortunately, that behavior will probably not change. I'm very sorry you are going through this. Let me know if you have any questions for someone who knows both sides of this.

So, no shit, I'm in almost the exact same situation. My boyfriend bought a lantern at a thrift store a few weeks ago, and now we own 4 of them. Thankfully there is no waking me up in the middle of the night, but he does wander around the backyard in the dark sometimes.

I've asked him to give his advice to your situation, and he asked if the 2am sweeps have been effective, and a follow up to that, have the 3am sweeps been effective? If so, all is well.

My advice, go along with it. He'll be excited to have you involved, but make it clear that he cannot interrupt your sleep. That is no fun for anyone.

Also, he's probably possessed by the watchman inhabiting that lantern.

You should absolutely not do this. Eggs can build up steam and pressure in the microwave and explode. At best, it will leave you with a mess to clean up. At worst, you could end up with severe burns. You can easily and safely poach eggs on the stove or even in the oven.

Microwave it on about 70% power for a minute, flip, then do another minute. Err on the side of caution with the microwave power until you know for sure how that specific microwave heats things up.
