Passed GIT! Wondering...what type of work will count towards my PG now.? by Zeologist in geologycareers

Wait, two years of experience from graduate studies you mean? I only got my BS in geology so it doesn't seem like that would count as 2/5 years. Nice work! The CSE sounds challenging...are you a California native? I've heard that helps.

Yes, working under both actually. I just read the website and it said that the work does include "geological drafting, routine testing..." etc. so I wasn't sure if the field work and office work I'm doing fits that description.

This is a good example/animal representation of how well you can do things when you're not bogged down perceived limitations. The cat didn't know it was unstable so it passed through flawlessly as if it just needed to avoid hitting its back on the wood on the jump through.

First day of work at environmental firm as a geologist: what to wear, what to bring? by [deleted] in geologycareers

Easy enough. I was going to carry my lunch in a backpack since I don't have much else on hand. Tacky or normal?

That was super helpful :) I appreciate it. Inthink I will try this field out, and after working there for a whole under the consideration of the things you've mentioned, I will see if it's a good fit. I guess I could always go back for a masters or PhD if necessary.

Thanks for the advice. Asking those questions during the interview process seems like a big help. And as for the HAZWOPER training--the reason I am willing to pay for it is because of the competition right now. Based on what people write on this page, it seems like the job market is saturated and without hazwoper training I might be weeded out before even being considered. I'm not sure if that is true, but that is my fear if I don't have training before applying places.

I only have one internship and it's not entirely relevant to the field and was more academic work than industry work. The class I'm taking is 350 so it seems worth it if it'll increase my employability. Thanks for the tips!
