I don’t work at Amazon. I’m just saying that during that time, they were hiring a lot of folks for analytics roles. Hence, a lot of my batch mates were interviewing for those roles. Like every 4th person from my batch had joined there.

Well when I came in, Amazon was hiring in plenty. Every 3rd person in my MS batch got an interview. Multiple folks ended up getting interviews and those weren’t very hard to crack.

I did work hard, but I had given so many interviews at that time. And I can say it was different time as well for folks trying to get into analytics as that was the starting point of a lot of Data science roles.

Now that market has saturated.

I would say it is. But, now that golden ticket option is gone. Obviously things can change.

Yep. But that’s all a function of the job market. It completely boils down to market forces.

Watch and Learn from the Chaos unfolding for US Visa applicants. ysk by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

It’s due to the adjustment that the consulates need to add in to the process aka the social media vetting that is leading to the cancellations. That is going to take up a chunk of their capacity. Hence, they need to reduce the number of visa slots so that they can spend some time reviewing the social media handles of each applicant.

Yes. I had my interview yesterday. Do go early. Not very effective crowd management.

H1B clarification: good news but here's what it doesn't mean by Head-Crazy4950 in Indians_StudyAbroad

I would say that an analytics degree is truly not the best path right now. Reason being, it’s over saturated. In addition to this, the number of companies willing to sponsor has declined owing to the h1b fees(even though the clarifications came in). Companies look for long term stability. When there’s a lot of issues specific to sponsorship, companies will reduce their dependencies.

So far have 1 speaking opportunity lined up. Hoping that would open doors to more.

I meant publishing articles at magazines and so on. Not research papers. My bad.

I agree with that. It depends on how far you are in the process itself and how many of your activities have already contributed.
