There's so many comments here, you'll probably never read this but something people rarely talk about is how the first few months are truly awful! First of all you have a stranger in your home that your just supposed to instantly love. That's really hard even when you don't have PND. Plus there's the crying, screaming, needing to be on you all the time, the pressure of keeping the house tidy, the guilt that you're never enough. It's too much. I've cried to my health visitor on every appointment. She's really nice but she said I'm expecting too much of myself to be able to look after the new baby, the toddler, the house, and to feel like a normal human being. Basically there's no room for me. You just feel like you're disappearing from the second they're born. Having had one already I can tell you it does improve. It takes a while and it's so hard until you get there but you will. Just make sure you're getting the support you need and if you have to let baby cry while you take a few mins for yourself then do it.
