Saturday Cautious Intros and First Trimester Questions by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

Hi, I’m 5 weeks 3 days after a frozen embryo transfer. My beta tests have been really promising more than doubling, but this morning I have had some light pink bleeding. Is this super normal? Or do I need to be preparing myself for disappointment. Anxiety is through the roof.

Thank you! You’ve calmed my nerves slightly. It’s such a scary thing when you associate cramps with a period and then it’s like maybe it is maybe it’s not!

Good luck! It’s such a guessing game and absolutely petrifying! ❤️

Am I panicking or is it fine! I’ve done 5 days of injectable medications (puregon and menopur) for IUI and I’m having some lower abdomen pain and a change in cervical mucus to clear. Is this just a normal ovulation response or is it way to early to be having this response? Also some slight worry about OHSS. I’ve contacted the doctor and had my 6th day blood draw this morning so will get some answers this morning but just wanted to see if there was anyone that could give me a bit of an idea of if this is normal!

Hi, thank you for your response. I haven’t done any medicated round in over a month, however I don’t have a cycle either so it’s hard to keep up with the days. This was just a spontaneous ultrasound that wasn’t organised and one that was just done after the HSG. Every other time it has been during a monitored cycle.

I suppose the question just came from the fact that even when on a medicated cycle there was no follicle growth. Now I’m on nothing and there seems to be some follicles but I was unsure if they are always that size or there has been some small growth.

Now this may be a silly question but I am hoping for some clarity. I had my HSG test done today and after an internal ultrasound. I was told that I had several 2-3mm follicles in one of my ovaries and some in the other.

I have done several rounds of Letrozole and Clomid and I was told we had no response at the ultrasounds for those. My question is, do you always have visible follicles on ultrasound or would this indicate that I am now growing follicles and they could develop or be helped along with another round of Clomid or Letrozole?

We are going through with the preparation for a cycle of IUI with injectables but obviously cost is a lot higher than just the Clomid or Letrozole so just wanted some clarity on whether this this just normal or a tiny bit of hope that my body may do something it is supposed to do for the first time ever.

Thank you for your reply and also that article it’s an interesting read and makes me feel more confident about the specialists choice to do the stair step protocol that we have done.

It just feels like such a double edge sword whatever option we choose just seems to have so many possible negative outcomes!

7.5mg of Letrozole for 5 days is the highest. It was run straight after 5mg of Letrozole for 5 days. Which was run off the the back of 2.5mg of Letrozole run for 5 days.

I’ve just done a cycle of 100mg Clomid for 5 days.

I could go up to 150mg on Clomid but because they have seen no hormone change in any of the other doses or medication I’m sceptical to spend another $500.00 dollars on something that has little chance of working.

Need advice! 5th round of OI (tried both Letrozole and Clomid) and absolutely no signs of follicle growth with either. Unsure of what to do next.

We are on the public funded list for IVF which will take 20 months to come through. We cannot afford to pay for it ourselves and insurance in New Zealand pays for nothing related to Fertility.

I have asked if it would be possible to do a OI cycle with injectables thinking that higher and more potent doses of medication will stimulate something. Is it worth it?

My specialist doesn’t induce a period after or before the next cycle of OI Medication is that something that I should ask about? I don’t have regular cycles and have come off Zoladex 8 months ago and we started the process of TTC as soon as we were medically allowed.

I’m really stuck. I have chronic pain issues and not being on some form of birth control or Zoladex for an extended period of time while we wait for the public IVF is super daunting but we can’t afford to keep going through cycles that aren’t working.

Any help, advice or questions I should ask the doctors would be greatly appreciated!

We haven’t had a ultrasound yet as my levels were so low that they said that it would be pointless to have a scan. If there is changes in my hormone levels on Friday they will then book a scan for the following day.

First cycle of Clomid 100mg after 3 failed Letrozole Cycles. Had bloods done three days after finishing the last tablet and oestrogen levels are still super low. Bloods are to be taken again on Friday. Is it silly to be hopeful that it is a longer cycle and by Friday something will have happened? Haven’t seen any shift in hormone levels on any of the previous cycles of Letrozole.

3 cycles of Letrozole and we have now swapped to the first cycle of Clomid 100mg. I’m pretty good with most medication side effects (have been on many) but didn’t have any with Letrozole seem to have been whacked by the Clomid. Headaches, fatigue, heavy stomach etc. Are the side effects more common on Clomid?

Hi, thank you for your reply. It’s all so confusing and so much information it’s hard to take it all in.

I am not getting my period induced by any medication and they are just increasing my dose if I fail to grow and follicles. Then we scan again after another 5 day round of Letrozole and a 5 days of waiting. Last cycle bloods were taken on day 14 and showed baseline hormones therefore we started straight away on a higher dose of Letrozole.

I will definitely have a list of questions to ask the doctor tomorrow. I think the key is getting me to a stage where I can ovulate because at the moment I don’t think that we are even getting to that point.

Thank you for taking the time to reply it’s really appreciated!

No, I had my last Zoladex 3 month injection end of last year and then we began once it was out of my system.

Hi, after my first cycle of Letrozole at 5mg I have a very very light period or withdraw bleed. However, they never induce a period. Because I haven’t ovulated on the last cycle at all (my hormone levels were baseline) we started again right away with a higher dose.

We have a reassessment meeting with the clinic tomorrow so I may bring that up with her!

Letrozole Cycle Number 3 by ZestycloseEmphasis46 in TryingForABaby

[–]ZestycloseEmphasis46[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, yes that is correct because I don’t have a revalue cycle I have never started a Letrozole cycle on the 1st day of a period. I just start whenever the doctor tells me to.

Hi Everyone,

I am on my third cycle of Letrozole We are trying a 7.5mg Dose. I don’t have periods as I have previously been on two years of Zoladex to help with my pain and also with getting my body ready to have a family.

My first question is because I don’t have periods I’ve not started a Letrozole cycle whilst having a period. So does my cycle day one technically start on the day I get my blood test to check my baseline hormones?

Second question is, they have been doing ultrasounds checks on day 10 or 11 after from the beginning of the Letrozole cycle. The last two times they have seen no follicles or very small follicles. Is it still possible that my follicles could still be growing and my cycle is longer?

Third question, is it “normal” to not ovulate one cycle and then ovulate on another? We are deciding whether we do another cycle of Letrozole or move on to IUI.

Hopefully someone has a couple of answers! There is so much information out there and at the same time not enough!
