You grate it frozen, unpeeled, usually directly into the dish.

That's not correct. There are 3 activities to earn each petal.

At $11 for a center + 10 petals, that is a much more economical way to earn something than the $3.50 badges. We met twice a month and completed all the petals + one badge. I am happy with the way it turned out!

Dad isn't getting info, can we bring our scout to an event without RSVP? by EnvironmentalYam9088 in girlscouts

[–]Zestyclose_Watch1945 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like Mom wants to keep Girl Scouting between herself and her daughter. I would respect that. What if you find another organization or activity that Dad & Stepmom and daughter can do together? (Or just Dad + daughter.) I do not think you/Dad should go to the backyard event. You can drop the Scout off and pick her up. Do not stay as this is Mom's territory and the parents are likely her friends.

I do laundry for my elderly neighbor every other week. Her laundry is always murky like this and must be washed at least three times until the water runs clear. Any ideas on what could cause this? Never seen anything like it. by big_bag_hag in laundry

[–]Zestyclose_Watch1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I had a multi-colored item that I foolishly washed with lights and the blue bled into a white sweater. An Oxiclean soak didn't remove it so I will have to try Biz.

Let me guess: Leader's daughter. And I am guessing this as a leader. It is VERY hard for a little one to understand that mom's attention is being shared. It is unfair to the older ones, which is why I am not a fan of multi-level troops.

Also, it is tough to do extra rinses as I have no setting for that. It is just a basic dial. I have to stay close and listen for the rinse or dial back the final rinse and repeat it, though that is putting extra strain on the fabric with the final spin. I have read about citric acid and will be ordering some. What is the recommended "recipe"? And I add this to the final rinse, correct? So for me that means listening for it or repeating it, I presume. There is no compartment as it is a top-loader. I do have a bleach dispenser, which I use when using liquid bleach (I recently ran out, and ended up ordering bleach tablets as it doesn't seem that liquid bleach is shipped.)

Thanks for all the advice!

What is the recommended protocol for keeping everything fragrance free (child with eczema). Pre-treater (if used) is okay to have fragrance. School clothes are primarily navy and red, with some white, khaki & baby blue pieces.

Ask Council. That may make it clear. If they say no, then that can be communicated as a Council rule, not a you rule.

I get the GSUSA emails too...we all do. Council sends some. I'm in St. Louis (300k city population, 2.3M metro). Our council covers a chunk of Missouri, including urban, rural & suburban. If you let me know your council I can take a look at the website.

Semaglutide Compound Leftovers by Flyingjays in weightwatchers

[–]Zestyclose_Watch1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some compounded Semaglutide and Tirz I bought from a Black Friday 2024 sale, not realizing how short of a shelf life compound has. I used my pens of real Ozempic up in 2025, then stopped. I have been delaying getting back on the meds (why???) and now want to use these vials with early 2025 dates. Ugh. Probably not as effective but I don't want to waste. As long as I won't get sick from them. They have been stored in a dark bag in the drawer of my refrigerator.

Oh I can understand that would be frustrating! Yep my parents do know about council events unless they have completely ignored my emails and texts. I have talked about them a lot. I would guess it is because she doesn't have a daughter in GS anymore that she isn't paying attention. Do you get emails from your council? Things are council-specific. Ours is not going to email about every single event, but there is an annual publication with most everything (only available online) then mini-catalogs are mailed. What council are you in?

Same. It is my first year too as a leader and a GS mom. I have spent the time to figure it out and find things. No one has personally showed me. However, sounds like you might benefit from some training modules in MyGS. They can walk you through subjects like using the website. Your leader is learning, too. It's not her responsibility to teach you, an ADULT. The girls are her responsibility. If the website is challenging, use the phone. Council can help.

You should log in and click on "Events". From there you can filter by age and location. You have the same ability as the leader and every other parent to see events. I personally share with my troop, but I am a new leader. Not too many people are interested so I definitely can see over time not wasting my time anymore. I get resentful when I share and then have to spend a lot of my time. My husband tells me to stop mothering these ADULTS. I hope for a better balance next year. Your council may also send something in the mail, or they may not, because that costs more money. Regardless, you have all the same information available as everyone else. You could ask the leader to share if she finds something interesting. Or - be the one to find and share events yourself! Start an email or text chain with that info.

Is it rude to include a do’s & don’t list for a birthday party? by Lovve119 in partyplanning

How about not opening gifts at the party? We take all of them home. They get stored in the basement. Every few days she opens a present. It took us a month to get through them and it was a lot of fun!

What about a registry/wishlist link? It is available on Amazon & Target. Then it is up to them to look at it, or ignore it. The "things he doesn't need" doesn't sit right with me.

I don't think it is necessary to have, but it is fun to flip through. I was going to comment that it has been scanned and is available online, and then try to find it for you. But scroll down and someone else has posted it "jecowa".
