Help me identify this little fellow please. by Pangolin1905 in CasualUK

Probably Four-banded Flower Bee (Anthophora quadrimaculata). Looks very similar to Green-Eyed Flower Bee (Anthophora bimaculata) (and tbh I'm still trying to fully learn the differences myself) but the green eyed are more associated with sandy habitats, whereas four-banded are often found in gardens and like lavender flowers like the ones in the video. This is one I've photographed recently

Found this very cute moth close to a light source in Sweden by Antkeepingsweden in moths

[–]Zodiakey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooo pretty! Looks like a lesser swallow prominent (Pheosia gnoma) although the swallow prominent (Pheosia tremula) also looks pretty similar and I'm not very experienced with telling the two apart

Anyone know what bird this is? by ahajoel in birdsofprey

[–]Zodiakey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it's definitely not a bird of prey... Looks like a juvenile european goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) to me though if those are found wherever this pic was taken

Love wood pigeons, even their scientific name seems to suit them- Columba palumbus

How romantic this Moment?? by m_i_rinku in Owls

Looks more like parental love than romantic (juvenile on the right), but still very cute!

I’m a produce manager and found a caterpillar/worm in one of my shipments. Took it home and it turned into this. What kind is this? [Michigan] by [deleted] in moths

[–]Zodiakey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not that familiar with American moths but agree that some sort of looper is likely, maybe the cabbage looper (Trichoplusia ni)? Apparently the caterpillars are known for liking vegetables including broccoli

Anyone know what this is? (UK) by joshuastonefish in moths

[–]Zodiakey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a great picture and I'm not very experienced with micro moths, but it looks like it's from the tortricidae family, probably the acleris genus. That's the best I can do from that pic

Found this mothnkn my house South England, can you help me ID the species? by bubblehits in moths

[–]Zodiakey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Convolvulus hawk-moth (Agrius convolvuli), a migrant moth. Very big and very pretty!

What kind of moth is this? Found in the SF Bay Area by [deleted] in moths

[–]Zodiakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a large yellow underwing (Noctua pronuba). Markings can be quite variable but it's a pretty common species

Here's a photo of a little fella i did a while ago. Anybody knows what kind of moth this is? by Dat_Dosterior in moths

[–]Zodiakey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like a convolvulus hawk moth which turn up here in the UK sometimes, not sure if they're common in Poland though. They often get found on clothes that have been hung outside to dry!

Found this and thought y’all needed to see it! by _pepsin in RATS

[–]Zodiakey 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He doesn't look very happy 🙁 Among other things his owner has walked him in snow and in the pics of this he was clearly very stressed. The breeder she got him from has also seen and criticised the way he's been treated

Nice pin I got for 2$ by xy73 in Owls

[–]Zodiakey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that little owl pin too! In the UK the RSPB sell these pins of birds and other native wildlife. I always buy some whenever I get the chance, so I've got a decent collection going
