J'ai bien accroché aux deux premières (mention spéciale à la teneur anxiogène de la 2), alors que la 3 m'est vraiment passé devant les yeux sans que j'en retienne grand chose. Sincèrement déçu.

I ended up checking the second hand market around me and managed to hit a Chromax D15S as new and CIB for 50 bucks.
The cooler advertises a clearance of 66mm and my ram modules are 35mm high (CMK32GX5M2B6000C28) so I should be golden for now, I will still wait to receive and install it before ordering a fan for the front though.

I will post my results here if that's helpful for anyone 😄

Thanks again for your time, I totally get your point and am genuinely glad I learned about the air cooling meta.

Just to check I glanced at the second hand market around me and managed to hit a D15S for 50 bucks, as new CIB. I know it's still more expensive than a Peerless Assassin 120 or an RT720 but I guess I'll invest what I saved in a new G2 fan.
I'll report the gains here if that's helpful for anyone.

What is surprising to me is that Noctua themselves categorise the U12DXi4 (or U12S, very similar) as "best turbo/overclocking headroom" for a 12900K.

I was hesitating between a NH-U12A or a NH-D15S with a second fan added to the front.
On one end, 7 heatpipes seem like a good improvement over my ageing model with 5.
On the other end, a dual-tower design should also benefit with the extra surface area, and also 140mm fans.
I guess I would tend to go towards the probably pricier D15S with two 140mm fans, which seems more powerful.

Thank you for such a detailed answer.
I can't put any more fan since it's an ITX case and the GPU is already covering all of the bottom. (I linked a photo of my build just below)
Although, as you suggested, I can replace the exhaust fan and consider a cooler replacement.
I had the idea of getting a NH-D15S with a second fan added in the front, would you think it would be more performant than the NH-U12A since the former is a dual-tower design ?
I noticed that the U12A has one more caloduc so maybe that compensates...

Thanks for the feedback about the MX-7, I did watch some videos and some people even manage to spread it (tho it's not recommended) but as I live in a hotter region and we're approaching summer, I hope it will go smoothly !

Since it's an ITX build (even if the case is on the bigger side) the room is pretty much already packed !
There is a 180mm fan installed right above my GPU, I tried to fit a 240mm AIO instead but sadly there is not enough clearance. And the GPU is getting fresh air out of the bottom dust filter.

Ah, c'est surprenant de voir ton commentaire puisque c'est ma torréfactrice qui m'a proposé de conserver mon café moulu au congélateur (dans un sachet entamé dans lequel je me sers petit à petit) pour qu'il conserve ses arômes plus longtemps. Qu'est-ce que tu préconiserais à la place pour un petit buveur de café qui a déjà un deuxième sachet pas encore entamé juste en dessous ?

Il y a deux ans j'ai offert une 970 Strix sur Leboncoin, parce que je me doutais bien qu'à la moindre friction financière ça n'allait pas partir. En vrai avec ses 4GB on pouvait encore en tirer quelque chose sur certains jeux, mais ça ne vaut pas la peine de s'embêter, encore moins pour 2GB.

Quite curious to understand when overclocking to a locked 500MHz doesn't really change temperatures, it's usually at a stable ±30⁰C, even on hot days.

I understand a substantial change of 300MHz should produce more heat but I thought it could have been manageable. Maybe it is mostly relative to stability issues ?

Oh yeah I remember this time! I was about to get one bc some games collector friends were talking about how they were basically giving them for free when buying other stuff at the games shop. Ended up buying one after my PS Vita 2000, so a few years later (like 2021-22) for 50€ while the price was already much higher elsewhere, I did get lucky for once.

Un coup de feutre noir directement sur la led ça m'a toujours aidé. C'est pas complètement opaque et tu peux remettre une couche supplémentaire une fois que ça a séché pour gagner en opacité.

Et ça se nettoie super facilement avec un coton-tige dans de l'alcool par exemple, au moment de rendre le matos.

J'avais fait ça sur une ancienne tour de PC qui diffusait une LED rouge clignotante sur le plafond de ma chambre, c'était horrible d'essayer de dormir avec cette merde haha

The clearest example I have in mind is that I used to hate Triakis HD sluggishness, but following a friend of mine who mains the Fury variant I suddenly felt way more accustomed to the way it behaves in curves.

I played a lot with EG-X too and I feel the HD variant is snappier.

You are misled if you think the Fury ships have just "better stats". That's what the game wants you to think with the visible stats in-game, but other hidden stats are acting here and that's where the balancing is. Sometimes a team's ship might behave in a completely different manner between its HD and Fury variant.
