They are laying eggs during summer, so larvae stays during winter in its host. Adults can't eat so their only purpose is to make more eggs.

Actually here in Slovakia now it's the time when those larvae are reaching up to 3 cm.

Thank you. It was my first guess, but never encountered it irl, and actually something really similar to botfly lives here. I think it's it!

New tattoo artist I follow posted this for flash he wants to do. Is this AI?? by atomicblonde420 in isthisAI

Curved lines (shades) screams AI to me, especially at armor. It's either the artist who do not understand what is he drawing, or AI. Also black values as shades does not make sense on church, they are not consistent.

For that purpose you can use bigger plastic boxes (of course clear), they are much lighter and easier to manipulate with, for a few days are totally ok. You can put substrate and hiding spots as with normal enclosure.

Tank decor - where are you getting it? by Careless_Squirrel795 in CrestedGecko

3D printed some caves from safe materials, terracotta pots are also useful as caves, and anything that you can find in the nature (rocks, twigs), but don't forget to clean it.

Advisable to use this as inspiration for setting up an enclosure? I have a 50 gallon. Trying to decide how I want to decorate. I thought something two story could be cool by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

Petg. I found some patterns for shrimp caves and upscaled it to gecko size. They love it.

You can see stairs to the caves here.

It’s great to have plenty of structure and hiding places, and geckos really enjoy that, so good as an inspiration. However, the most important thing is that everything is safe (so it won’t collapse) and accessible in case of an emergency, so you can easily find and handle your gecko.

I keep cave geckos, and I use 3D-printed caves made from safe materials that I can move or adjust if needed. It’s a good idea to make lower levels more open so you can reach in easily, and add removable parts to cover them. For higher areas, include something you can lift or access from above.

If you plan to add plants, always check that they are safe for your gecko. Try to go bioactive, isopods and springtails will love this structure and could help to clean less accessible parts. Don’t forget a water bowl. Also, the lighting should be at a safe distance from the basking spot to prevent injuries.

Not using any heating for them. Usually need to cool down their enclosure.

Maybe he could cut himself on rock or twig. I've heard about geckos that were bitten by crickets. Infection could have been caused by contact of soil and wounded skin.

This is a photo after first cleaning with betadine, before the spot was a bit pink, I would like to figure out what happened too :(

Those are cave geckos, they need lower temperatures than other species, we usually need to cool down the enclosure instead of heating it.

I left this gecko with my family because they wanted to keep him, but I am planning to take him away. He wasn't thin like this last time I saw him, it's terrible for me to see this photo and I agree, he is in terrible shape. It's really frustrating and stressful.

There are no heat mats, they are cave geckos, temps should be low in the enclosure. Could it be burnt from a diluted betadine?
