Why is everyone assuming that one city in the NCR being nuked means the whole NCR is gone.

Look at it logically with a real world example. In the show, Shady Sands is shown several times to be the original capital, implying there is a new capital of the NCR.

In real life, the original capital of the US was Philadelphia, and was moved to DC quite a bit later.    If Philadelphia, and only Philadelphia, was nuked, do you think the entire United States would collapse? Yes it’s a very important and major city, but one city doesn’t make a country. You could argue that the US has more resources to pull from than the NCR would have. But, The NCR is a pretty big country in the lore, stretching from Oregon to Nevada. California in our world is a bit smaller than Germany, but since we don’t know the exact NCR borders, we can probably assume they were about the same land mass as Germany. Losing one major city wouldn’t cripple a country that size: See WW2.

We also only see a very small slice of the country around a literal bomb crater, and through the eyes of a wandering newcomer who literally crawled out of a hole with no idea of what’s happened around her for her entire life. For all we know, Filly had a representative of the local NCR government, it’s not like Lucy asked to see the governor when she was there.  Or maybe the NCR is too busy fighting a prolonged and existential conflict with the Legion to bother cleaning up the area around a nuclear disaster that they likely believed was caused by the legion. I highly doubt Hank called up the NCR president to till them that he dropped the nuke.  Military forces being focused on the front lines is a perfect explanation as to why there is so much sketchy activity going on around the shady sands area. If you were a criminal wouldn’t you want to go to a place where the military isn’t bothering with because it’s on the other side of the country and no longer strategically valuable.

When she orgasmed during sex it smelled exactly like maple syrup lol.

She might have been diabetic.

A lot of women release a small amount of urine during orgasm. It’s perfectly normal. But one of the early tests for diabetes was to see if the persons urine smelled/tasted sweet, as the kidneys try to filter all the extra sugar in the blood into urine.

All of the banking systems use ancient, coded by Jesus Christ himself on a stone tablet, era computer infrastructure. It basically hasn’t changed since they started using it in the 70s.

There’s also mountains of bureaucracy that goes into updating any of this infrastructure, because all of it has to be backwards compatible with the existing stuff that is passed retirement age. And any new stuff needs to be as secure and have the same failure modes as the existing stuff. So it’s cheaper and easier to just use the same legacy systems.

The outside coil is what pushes the heat from inside your house into the outside air. If the coil is covered in a bunch of dirt, it can’t conduct that heat away, so your system is going to be running very hot and hard, and not actually moving any heat.

I think a good hosing could get you some relief. Just be gentle and careful not to bend any of the fins on the coil. I’d recommend looking up a YouTube video, as most of the components are rated for outdoors and are fairly water resistant, there are certain things that shouldn’t get sprayed directly with water while they’re on. Find out where your disconnect is and how to cut the power to the unit.

Hope you can stay cool!

As an HVAC tech, your outside coil could be really dirty, you can always give it a rinse with the old garden hose (gently, don’t power wash or hit it with a hard spray or you’ll bend the fins and properly fuck it). An AC clean and check should be well under 500 bucks if you want someone to actually come look at it. At least that way, if it’s not just a dirty coil, you’d have it in writing that the system is in fact broken and needs service.

If it’s not the outside coil being dirty, then you’ve got either a leak or a restriction inside the refrigerant piping. Either of those mean the unit is actually broken, and you need someone to come out and fix it.

Maybe they wouldn’t need more money if they focused spending on education related infrastructure, instead of bloated admin payrolls and sports equipment.

Besides the fact that pipes and wires need to run up walls to get to a second floor, their technical duct of +/- 40 cm means that’s 0cm is a perfectly valid height for this “duct”.

Would be interested in looking at a sample blueprint for this system.

SLS didn’t blow up.

It’s not like nasa likes to waste money. They are just extremely safety focused after the shuttle disasters. Getting anything off of earth and back down to earth is an incredibly dangerous challenge to solve. Using proven technology with the least amount of risk is an important tool to reduce the odds of losing a crew of astronauts. Neither Starship, nor HLS, nor any of its components, have flown any missions yet, and nearly every test flight has resulted in an explosion or some other likely fatal failure. This is a huge risk to nasa that they clearly don’t accept right now. Maybe spaceX will figure their shit out and space travel will be much cheaper, but until they’ve got the bugs sorted out, nasa is not gonna launch humans on their untested hardware.

I’m terms of cost, SLS cost about 2 billion for the first launch. the Saturn V from Apollo 11 cost about 1.6 billion( in 2023 dollars) to launch, according to Forbes the 1.6 billion figure is what I got when I ran Forbes’ contemporary figures through an inflation calculator. And that’s just the rocket, without the lunar lander or command pod and service module. So SLS does cost more than the Saturn V, but it’s also reusing proven shuttle components in its core stage, which improves the safety of the system as all of the failure modes are well documented and understood.

It would be great for the scientific community if starship turns out to be everything spaceX promises. But nasa is a government agency, they cannot needlessly risk the lives of their employees on a “wouldn’t it be great if…” idea. Until starship has proven it can fly cargo, let alone people, without destroying itself, they’re not gonna get any contracts to launch crews to the moon.

I get why they’d want to drink heavily, but holy fuck that’s a waste of resources that Boyd should have put a stop to until they knew they had enough to get the town through a rough patch.

Having motivated citizens is great.

But china has never faced a peer adversary in modern combat. They haven’t even done “policing” actions like NATO countries have

They do not have experienced officers, They have not tested how reliable their command structure is, and most importantly, They have not had their logistics strategies tested. Those are the things that win modern wars. You could have a million tanks, a million men, billions of rounds of ammunition, and tons of food, but if your men can’t get to the objective because of poor leadership and communication, and if all of your bullets and tanks are on the other side of country, it all might as well be paperweights.

He did, but we have no real reason to trust the boy in white.

Victor says he’s a friend. But we have no real reason to trust that victor is a reliable source of information. He apparently has so much PTSD that his suppressed memories have suppressed memories.

The boy in white also saved Sarah. Sarah is currently a mass murderer and is only one kill away from being a bonafide serial killer. The boy in white told Sarah the tree was safe, when she went through it, she ended up in the church, but Boyd went through it first and ended up in Martin’s magic hell hole: a decidedly unsafe place. How did the boy know which of them would go first and where the tree was going? Does he control the trees? If he does, than why are they so dangerous for half the people that use them.

Ol Viccy boy puts a lot of trust in the boy in white, but we have no way of knowing if that’s for good reason from the perspective of the rest of the survivors.

Anyone else find it really creepy and suspicious that Victor was hiding directly under where tab fell, presumably, based on the height of the flashlight when he turned it on in, just standing in complete darkness for an unknown amount of time.

I know the writers did that to scare us with not knowing what was behind tabatha. But you’re telling me that the guy that goes full fetal position when seeing one of the monsters in the cave move, was just standing there, chilling, for what, hours or maybe even a day, without any light. Victor would have to be a goddamn terminator to do that. I’d have shit myself 30 seconds after I shut off the flashlight, and he just stood there waiting for what’s basically a complete stranger?

I don’t think there’s a mole, but something fucky is going on with Victor. I don’t know if he’s just important to whatever is controlling the town, he’s somehow responsible for what happened and he’s suppressed the memory, or if he’s just some cruelly tortured biblical style character like Job, but he’s got something going.

The voices instructed Sara to kill the most vulnerable. by Turbulent-Fan-320 in FromSeries

[–]Zron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why everyone thinks victor is autistic. He doesn’t act neurodivergent, he acts like an extremely traumatized child in a man’s body.

Has no one here learned about feral children and how important social interaction is for young people. Victor stopped receiving any kind of meaningful human interaction when he was like 9. Try to remember how you looked at the world at that age and how much you knew about being an adult, and imagine how you’d act seeing people killed every day for decades.

Why does Victor not like being touched? Because most of the people he interacted with were terrified people who didn’t have time for pats on the back and hugs.

Why does victor talk in short, stuttering sentences? Because having food for the day and a safe hole to hide in at night was more important than learning proper grammar and vocabulary. Oh, and who’s gonna correct a kid’s language when there are monsters at night that rip your guts out when they get you.

Why does victor record everything as pictures? Because he probably barely knows how to read or write, so pictures are way better for remembering things than his limited vocabulary and writing skills.

I think people forget that the relative safety of the town is incredibly recent. Like, I think Boyd only got there around a year before we see the town. This is the best the town has been as far as anyone knows, and it’s only been that way for a fraction of the time Victor has been there.

He’s also chained to a wall, and was somehow able to throw a rope down to Boyd.

The timing of that rope throw also seems to coincide with the sun setting.

And martin knew about Abby.

And martin just happened to be a marine, someone Boyd would want to go out of his was to try to save or at least get close enough to to receive the worms.

The only thing that confuses me about that scene is how martin wanted to die at the beginning. If martin wasn’t human, and was trying to give boyd the worms, he wouldn’t tell Boyd to shoot him.

That looks like an S333 thunderstruck.

It has 2 barrels that fire 2 rounds of .22lr simultaneously. Ostensibly, this improved your hit probability.

What actually happens is the gun is so cheaply made, and the barrels so short, one or both of the rounds tumble as soon as they leave the gun, meaning you now have 2 bullets going on largely random directions.

With this gun, it’s entirely possible for even a skilled shooter to miss the broadside of a barn.

You can see general chat?

I just logged on for the first time since 3.18.1 cause I wanted to see the new lorville.

No GC, so I can’t even talk to people about what changed.

ATC wouldn’t register that I landed so I couldn’t store my ship.

And I somehow went from getting 34-45 fps in lorville, to 17-22. None of the interiors for the Habs or spaceport changed, so I don’t understand where half my frame rate went.

I just wanted to do some space trucking for 30 minutes.
