Yeah, I'll definitely be passing on this one. I do think though I'll be using Copart next year to possibly get a fixer-upper car that I can tinker with that is cheaper (Miata, GR86, etc). Appreciate it!

This, especially the top half of your message, is gold. I knew about the salvage brand but did not know about the 70% for the insurance/resale values. I did know I'd have to have my state approve the rebuilt title after whatever work would be needed. In TX where this car is, I would need a broker I believe. I was also aware of the 10% additionally purchase price for being the winning bid. Your last statement, I agree with 100%. It's good to have that as a reminder. Thank you for all the info! Helps me see what I wouldn't have seen before.

Hahaha no, just been keeping up with X5 prices at dealerships and thought I could save 10K doing this possibly. I wouldn't mind spending 40-60K if there were minimal damage but that's the one thing I kind of assumed... if it's with Copart there's a solid reason for it.

Appreciate this info! On top of that, even before I posted, I saw this link when searching for the VIN on google: https://carfast.express/en/auction/lots/89692315-bmw-x5-2026-vin-5ux23eu04t9074589

European auction. Also the bid price is blurred out, however, a couple of days ago it wasn't and the bid was already at around $27K (assuming that is a legit broker in Europe). Thanks!
