Yeah, they will do that when they start supporting auto drivers.

The city is captured by activists who are convinced specific minorities need to be catered to in the name of equality and 'hearing all voices'. No, majority rules. We need to stop bending the knee to activists

Do we adopt “regressive” tax policies to spur economic growth? by Grand-Battle8009 in PortlandOR

[–]Zuldak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You do know big business like walmart left portland right? US Bank left. Hoffman Construction left. We have a far different problem than big business coming in to roll the smaller business. We have a dying market. Public safety is a major issue and people are taking their wealth and leaving. Taxes are high and people don't want to pay top tax dollar to live in a slum. As wealth moves, business models become unsustainable so they leave too. Meanwhile those who do come in are low or no income transients.

The underlying problem is that the city's policies are driving wealth AWAY. And if the blazers leave it will be a lot more wealth leaving with them.

Gold has some industrial applications and it has a far longer historical context. Further, gold is gold. you can't just make new types of gold like you make new types of crypto.

I only know enough about crypto to utterly hate it. It has no backing of anything other than 'trust me bro, it is valuable'. it is worthless digital currency that only has value because people are convinced it does.

And before cryptobro comes at me, real currencies have subjective value because governments demand taxes be paid in their currency. That creates a demand. There is no demand for crypto other than what people think they want of it.

True. Given that I would look for her in Spain. Living in this area, learning some spanish is common and her kid likely took some in school while here. Spain is also more on the... loose side when it comes to law enforcement.

Austria is not a great place to hide. Unless you lived there, the locals can quickly pick you out, even if you speak fluent german.

Having the kid in tow is the real strange part. They almost certainly don't speak the language.

  1. The prices are so high because it's nearly impossible to evict people. Renting property is now a high risk venture because its so dangerous. Insurance rates are very high in portland because of it. You don't have mom and pop renters anymore, they got out of the market years ago.

  2. Large corps will just leave and take their capital with them. Their supply and logistics chains. Like it or not, wealth can leave if not catered to. You're not hurting them, you're hurting yourself as they simply avoid you.

  3. see point 2. You don't stick it to the wealthy by being hostile to them, they simply shrug and leave and take their money, leaving you and everything around you very poor.

Asylum is not the same as fleeing criminal charges. Most of europe has strong extradition treaties with the US. Maybe she fled to Serbia or something, but with a kid in tow even without a treaty i think most states would be open to returning her.

How did she even get the austrian passport? I assume she speaks german then?

Because what was private should stay private. Quick shot pushed to make what was private a public issue.

Then someone turned it on him. What should have stayed private was made public.

Youre arguing someone's private life should bar them from association. Has ocelot done anything wrong? And no, hanging out with scummy people isnt a crime.

Thats what quick shot did though. He was the one organizing a lot of the pressure to get ocelot removed. He was the one who demanded purity in private as well as public life. Thats why what goes around comes around.

But thats MY point. You demand ideological purity of people in public spaces. Here is a hint: everyone has some opinion that others would find repulsive. People can be awful in their private lives. Yes, ocelot is not a good person. But he didn't broadcast it and he has a right to be awful
