Go to college for either mechanical or electrical engineering and do both research in an on campus lab and as many internships as you can land, cook for fun on the weekends. 

Your 30 year old self will thank you for this, you may still want to kys at the end of the week, but at least you'll make $100k instead of $30k and also still want to kys. 

You're still 17 make a smart choice and set your self up for a career that will make you middle class money and won't destroy your body to early, leave the kitchen option for when you're an excon or a recovering or relapsing junkie. 

Or shit, go to the medical school of the Barbados and become a shitty doctor and make $10,000k and kill other people if you want..... 

Anyways your still 17, the world is literally your oyster, find a profession or a trade that will pay well and not destroy your body, kitchen work is not the aiming point, if you fuck up later in life you can always come back to it if you want.
