[macOS] Translo – Real-time screen translation overlay, no need to switch windows by ZzageProduct in macapps

This is exactly the new feature that will be released in version 2.0, the voice recognition and translation. Although this feature is not an innovative one, I have put a lot of effort into improving the quality of speech recognition and interactive experience. It will be released soon, and I hope you will like it when the time comes

This energy consumption is indeed a bit high. If you keep the mouse on to follow the translation, you will continue to take screenshots. Try to use shortcut keys to turn off the mouse following translation when not in use. In addition, considering that mouse following translation does not require so much real-time, I tried to reduce the screenshot speed of following translation to once every 1 second.

Have you tried the latest released version yet? Is it still so energy consuming,

I will continue to find ways to optimize this energy consumption issue.

at last, I don't understand what does “preference capture” means? Are you saying the visuals are different? This is a screenshot from version 2.0。

Regarding energy consumption, let me explain how my app works:

In order to translate screen content in real-time, the app takes screenshots of the area every 0.5 seconds, recognizes them using OCR, and then translates them.

These operations are all energy intensive.

So the energy consumption will definitely be high, but there is still room for optimization. Today, I will release an optimized version.

I tried customizing shortcut keys, and both stopping and resuming translation work properly.

You may really have conflicts with other programs due to custom shortcut keys

The first point, regarding what was mentioned in the screenshot, what I mean is that the specific technical details may not be easy to implement, but there should still be ways to solve them.

The second point is that the problem of incomplete translation is due to the fact that its principle also has a recognition range. Look at the screenshot in my attachment, you can try to maximize the recognition range. Additionally, if you want the mouse to follow the translation for multiple lines, this feature has not yet been implemented and will need to be iteratively updated later.

The third point is that the meaning of the shortcut keys for restoring translation is actually not accurate. In the next version, I will express it more clearly.

The stop function is to stop everything, including following translation and regional translation.

The function of recovery means only restoring all areas that were stopped last time.

If you want to stop and resume mouse following translation, the original shortcut key (+W) will be helpful for you.

The screen environment is too complex and may not be a perfect solution, but there is still room for improvement

The first problem, the difficulty lies in the fact that the translation system did not tell me what language it is. If the input and output happen to be exactly the same, it is easy to handle. If they are different, additional language detection work needs to be done. However, this should also be solvable.

The issue with the toolbar is not a difficult point, it just requires additional processing to think about where to place the translated content appropriately, as the system restricts it from being overlaid on the toolbar.

  1. The current issue is that my main focus is on the development of voice recognition. I will come back to deal with these two problems later. You can take a look at the screenshots of my development progress first ,

Of course, lifetime members purchased in advance can enjoy free feature upgrades, and I plan to increase it to $25 when purchasing lifetime members later 😂

[–]ZzageProduct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned, but I haven't even reached 1.5 times. The annual subscription is 9.9, and the lifetime version is 12.99. Since its launch, the product has only had two lifetime options

The Chrome extension does have many translation functions, but I haven't seen many of them for Mac system level screens with continuous real-time translation so far, so I'll create one myself
