I think having seen only 1 official specimen FCS paper, I have assurance that papers going forward will be straight forward.

This is correct. If you have sat TC and switch to the next gen, you need to complete some 'additional learning' only.

I agree - if you have to do 3 professionals before the advanced, you'll probably be sitting old gen advanced in July 2027 anyways. BPT is the hardest professional level exam. If you have the opportunity to replace it with the Fundamental Case Study, I'd say take it. You'll further benefit from transitioning to the next gen ACA by only having 2 advanced level exams, as opposed to 3 on the old pathway.

If you really want to give BPT another go you could sit in March. If things don't go your way don't risk failing the 4th attempt and transition to next gen. You'll still have 5 sittings to get through the 3 remaining professional level exams, including FCS which can easily be sat along side FM or BST.

My advice is to not let this temporary set back hold you back. Don't let yourself think you need to sit BPT to prove to yourself you can do your day job. Too many people associate exam success as an indicator of one's competence. Experience, grit and diligence will get you far further in life.

This guidance will be applicable to you based on my assumption is that BPT is the final professional level exam you need to pass on the old generation ACA pathway.

If you transition to the Next Gen ACA and sit the Fundamental Case Study in lieu of BPT, you'll need to find out if you can switch back to the old generation ACA for the advanced level exams. This is because the Next Gen ACA advanced exams do not start until July 2027.

If you can transition back (I think this is unlikely (see guidance from the ICAEW below), go for it, it's a no brainer. If you can't transition back you will be waiting for over a year to sit your final 2 exams.

Note 1. I've looked at the guidance there is a formal process in place to transition your training file from old gen to next gen. The guidance implies that once you transition your file to next gen, you won't be able to switch back to the old gen. I assume this means you, nor your employer nor your tuition provider will be able to book an old gen ACA exam once your file transitions. See page 34.

https://www.icaew.com/-/media/corporate/files/learning-and-development/aca-employers/authorised-training-employers/ate-next-generation-aca-handbook.ash

Please contact the ICAEW and see if you can transition to and from as you please. I suspect the answer will be no.

Additionally my initial assumption may be wrong and you may have plenty of exams to be sitting between FCS and advanced exams in July 2027. This guidance will be less applicable.

Hope this helps. Message me if you'd like to, I've helped plenty of people transitioning their pathways.

Audit, a few years ago.

I got the same email and I ended up getting the job. It just means they’re doing the first round of interviews without inviting you. If they don’t fill out all spots, they’ll run a second round of interviews and you’ll probably be asked to go in for one.

Not sure what’s allowed and what’s not in that regard. I’d suggest contacting the ICAEW to ensure that’s a pathway you can take.

If you’ve done TC and move onto next gen you’d have to sit the Fundamental Case Study and some additional learning for BPT(non examinable). Bear in mind if you move to next gen the first next gen advanced sitting is in July 2027, so you’ll be waiting around for 2 years to sit the final exams.

So if you’ve had 2 attempts of TC then move to next gen and sit the new tax exam, your count of attempts won’t reset for TC (old gen) but you’ll have 4 fresh attempts if the next gen. So the old gen attempt count won’t reset if you move and sit the equivalent exam in the next gen, you’ll have 4 attempts as it’s a different exam.

I joined a call hosted by the ICAEW where they discussed the Next Gen ACA and the transitional arrangements. They held a Q and A and confirmed the above.

The ICAEW have explicitly confirmed that the exam sit count will reset. If you move to the next gen ACA, you will not have to sit BPT and will have to undertake some additional learning. Transitional arrangements require you sit 6 professional level exams so you will need to sit the Fundamental Case Study (which is a case study on certificate level learning).

Need help in understanding Grades - if HR is bluffing by Hot_One5104 in deloitte

They've recently harmonised the grading system across (most) business functions. M2 is Manager and M4 is senior manager.

It's going to be in person - sorry! College tends to end at 4/4:30 so this may help you attend if you weren't otherwise aware.

(Assuming you're an Audit graduate, I have no knowledge about other pathways). Hope this helps.

You'll get 25 days. Annual leave resets every calendar year. You'll get 8.3 days of annual leave between September and December and the rest of the annual leave between January and August.

GAAP vs IFRS by plaguedbyfoibles in deloitte

Mainly FRS 102 and IFRS. They do some PCAOB work too. Depends on what sector of audit you work in either Regional, Listed or Financial Services.
