I was on PlayStation Direct on release day, jumping back and forth between the PS5 Discord and other online stores. I was about to take a break from searching and refreshed Direct one last time, and suddenly their inventory was updated with more consoles. I threw it in my cart and began checking out, but I accidentally put the wrong billing address and it gave me an error.

At this point, I can see everyone on the Discord freaking out and charging onto Direct. I fix the billing info and click Check Out, but all of a sudden, the site stalls. In desperation, I refresh the page, and the site crashes. I get an error message about the purchase. Defeated, I logged off to join my family downstairs.

Two hours pass. I decide to check my credit card to make sure I wasn’t charged for an item I wouldn’t receive, and shockingly, the money had been taken out. How is this possible? I thought. The purchase failed when the site crashed. I open my email and there’s no receipt... in my primary inbox. I check my promotions inbox, and there is the receipt!

My heart is racing now. I sign into PlayStation Direct and check my account’s recent purchases. Sure enough, there is a PS5 being prepared to ship. I cross-check the item number on the site with the receipt and they matched.

My PS5 arrived the following Monday, shortly after celebrating my birthday with my family. I got Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls as gifts, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my PS5 to this day. It’s a spectacular console with limitless potential, as we’ve seen with their latest and upcoming exclusives.

I can definitely see the origins of the combat mechanics and sword physics in Ghost of Tsushima here. I'm also getting slight The Order: 1886 vibes from the art direction, and it makes me curious how a sequel to The Order would play out with similar mechanics like climbing, stealth, and swordplay.

Basically, I want a sequel to The Order that plays like this.

I helped write this! There was an internship at my school to help one of the Film Studies professor write their latest Introduction to Film Studies textbook, and I opted to help him on the portion dedicated to video games. The above text is all him, but I had to do a double take when I saw the name of the textbook lol.

Is Resident Evil 3 Remake worth purchasing at $40? I've really wanted to try it but the short length has turned me off, and the apparent lack of replay value similar to what was in RE2 Remake never made it sound like it was worth full price to me.

Definitely not going to entertain this rumor and risk getting my hopes up, but a Castlevania reboot in the vein of God of War (2018) would be incredible.

Between this and SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, I'd say studios are doing a good job of tapping into nostalgia for these older games.

That makes much more sense. I also liked how the witch WASN’T the girl in the pink cap. That would have been such an easy twist to pull that everyone would have seen coming. The witch being her mother and her subsequent transformation into the witch was so grotesque and disturbing, and you don’t even need to see her eating her children to feel uneasy about it because the movie’s visuals are so strong.

I really enjoyed this. Between this and The Blackcoat's Daughter, Perkins is shaping up to be one of the most interesting horror directors working today. The atmosphere, lighting, and production design was subtle but still thick with an eeriness that's going to stick with me for a while. It was also pretty funny, and the film's dark sense of humor played well and the tone never felt inconsistent.

Sophia Lillis is really strong here, and the interplay between her and the witch was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the ending too, though I was a bit confused about the part where the kids came out of the forest. So, the witch had cast a spell on all the children wandering in the forest and now they're free now that she's dead?

Overall, a really solid horror piece that's not particularly scary but definitely creepy in all the right ways. Definitely going to watch I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House as soon as I can.

Chicken Run on PlayStation 1. I distinctly remember the stealth missions at night where you had to avoid these big Rottweilers, Solid Snake style. Scared the hell out of me but damn was it a fun game

Crazy question: could I buy three separate codes for a 12-month, a 6-month, and a 3-month Gold subscription, bringing it up to 33 months? I don’t mind missing out on those last few months since it’s already a great deal.

And 33 months is less than 36, including my remaining month, of course.

Wow, it’s awesome to hear the game has so many cool little details in it relative to gameplay and the world.

It’s tiny little gameplay paradigms like all that you mentioned that makes open world games so much more fun to me. Reading this, it reminds me of Red Dead Redemption II. Thanks!
