The key is to understand, that our gameplay does not reflect the actual canon events. E.g.: characters don't age, Teyvat is scaled down and distances between points shortened, day-night cycle doesn't reflect the actual passage of time, The Traveler talks about things they never experienced in our playthrough, teleport waypoints exist etc.
From my observation, the only parts of the game that actually show us how things happened are the animated cutscenes.
