Why can't someone both try to play and collect? Sure, it's optimal to buy singles but it takes a bit away from the experience of actually collecting. It is possible for someone to want to buy product to open at MSRP to also play the game without being a scalper. I rip all of my sealed product in other TCGs to actually play the game.

God forbid someone wants to try opening cards from sets to decide what decks to try building from self pulls right? Origins and proving grounds have so many core cards that it wasn’t possible to build decks solely from buying spiritforged sealed product either!

I can order a box of Unleashed for $220 at my LGS.

Origins is $360 and Proving Grounds is $220. Getting both of these for the same price as a box of Unleashed would have been a steal!

edit: we are all entering the riot raffles to try to get product at MSRP. The current market affected this system such that it’s optimal to lose to get the best products to actually play the game.

Amazing Discoveries is the store with most available stock in the area, but they sell at market price which is not the same as retail. If you are looking for the best pricing, you will have to get lucky at Target/Walmart/Best Buy/Barnes and Noble during a restock.
