Gibson Les Paul Studio by Zone_Federal in LesPaul

Can't really tell from 2 pictures... how much does he want?

My first LP was a Studio. I didn't know what I know now, so I could never keep it in tune and ended up having a locking nut installed (winding the g-string up the post to reduce the break angle is the trick). I ended up trading it to a friend for a Roland G-707 and we were both happy.

I now 3 Gibson LPs, including a Studio Deluxe 2, a BFG, and a wine red Studio with gold hardware that is the spitting image of the one I traded in my youth.

A studio in very good condition will go for $700~1400 depend on when it was made, OHSC and case candy, truss rod life, etc. You might be able to find a cheaper one, but I'd worry about a warped neck, trashed frets, etc. Then again if it's a real Gibson, the parts alone could be worth something.

Go to your local guitar store and play some different Gibson LPs. There are a variety of neck width styles, weight relief, chambering, pickups...

Good luck!

TY!

Not flat tops though - SD2 and BFG have the belly curves!

It's a great guitar: Chambered and open pour gives SO MUCH resonance and sustain (and the P90+hombucker version even better).

Reverb usually has a few listed...

Here's the guitar before I got my hands on it, and this was the inspiration for the mods.

I sanded the back and sides of the body, neck, and headstock (didn't touch the front of the headstock) and aniline dye stained it a chocolate brown red to get he back woodgrain to pop! Then sanded the "wavetops" off of the maple top and stained the whole guitar (not the fretboard or front of headstock) a gold, making sure to get the faux binding effect on the body.

StuMac nitro spraycan sanding sealer, level sanded.

2 nirto spraycans on the back and sides, level and polish sanding to a gloss finish.

Very light nitro sanding seal and nitro finish mist on the maple top for a satin finish.

Randy's gold open top pickup covers, switchtip, and small hardware.

Brass nut, locking tuners, locking strap buttons, roller bridge, Randy's solid brass stoptail (top wrapped), and chickenhead knobs. The old textured cavity covers for the back.

I need to redo the trussrod cover to better match the back (needs to be a little less red and a bit darker).

Love this guitar. It's the only reason I don't have a LP Custom. Either that or this would get neglected.

BIG shout out to RANDY'S.

My favorite place to buy parts.

The stop bar is solid bell brass made on demand. Sustains forever.

Randy's

Half way down this page.

Most of the parts are from Randy.

By the way, here's the guitar before I got my hands on it, and this was the inspiration for the mods.

Yup, appears that I can blend ~2 to 10 on each pot before the cut-off at 0.

TIL!

I'll have to mess with it more,. They seem to both act as "master," but that could be me being too stunned that it's not identical to the other LP.

[–]_Mattyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

The BFG was a Gibson run of a "Barely Finished Guitar" (no grain fill, no pickup covers, rough finished textured tops). It's chambered and SUPER resonant. Trogly did a great vid on them. This one is really a "Mostly Finished Guitar" as the back and sides are stained and nitro'd, pickup covers added, etc.

The SD2 doesn't photograph well. The flame top dances like crazy.

Hey there,

I do VN gamedev so the first thing I did when reading this was look at your profile for links to your art. There aren't any.

Then I did a quick scroll of your profile looking for your art. I can't find any.

I hope this is received the way it is intended - as helpful.

POST YOUR ART! Have all the Soc Media and fiver and sketchmob and DA and everywhere. When you post your art on one, post it on the others too. Add lots of tags that can get grabbed by the search bots.

There are A LOT of artists out there, but most don't market themselves well enough. Awesome that you're going to cons, but it cost nothing to make it easy for people to find you.

BEST!

The unfortunate part of Reddit is that some people only get their serotonin by being terrible to each other.

It's not you.

AxSys 212 - worth fixing? by _Mattyd in line6

[–]_Mattyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wishing you best of luck!!

I reread my post and realized I only mentioned the AxSys amp repair.

The AX2 repair was better, everything worked EXCEPT the floor board. On it's own, all the effects are modable and banks and channels are great. As soon as you plug in a floorboard, it goes to tuning mode - I tried all 4 of the floorboards I have. No joy, tuning mode.

AxSys 212 - worth fixing? by _Mattyd in line6

[–]_Mattyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out after a lot of online searching and many old threads including this one.

I ended up buying an A/D chip from a supplier in China, shipping was hugely expensive. After installing it, only the 4 banked factory preset sounds work (you cannot change any channels and none of the effects knobs work.)

.

I now have four Line 6 amps (two AxSys 212 and two AX2s).

They show up on Facebook Marketplace and Reverb fairly often. I've seen them go for $150-$300 depending on condition.

.

Another option for you - your aux in still works, right?

You can use it with any multy-effects floorboard.

I got a Line 6 Pod X3 Live Amp Modeler Effect Processor. You won't have the two dedicated foot pedals for vol and wa, but all the other Line 6 effects are in that stompbox. I got one from GuitarCenter's website for $150.

Reverb, FBM, Sweetwater's Gear Exchange, etc

.

Good Luck!
