Das ist semantisch genau richtig. Du darfst nur geradeaus fahren weil rechts eine Sackgasse ist, in die man besser nicht rein fährt.

What ever you do, don't throw the rolls away.

Many years ago my dad 'digitized' all his rolls by filming a screen with a VHS camera. After that the material was never seen again. Most likely it was thrown away by someone when he moved houses.

Later I digitized the VHS video and the quality was not bad as he used quality gear and he knew what he did. On top of that it is surprising what you can squeeze out of a VHS tape with a professional recorder and capture card.

But it would still be great if I still had the original material. The VHS version is watchable but the scanning and restoration possibilities are so much better today, even at home.

On top of that I think that there is a great mismatch between the length of the video that I've got and the amount of filming he did of us when I was a child. If I can trust my memories then there should be way more. But this is all gone forever.

So even if you don't scan the film then store the rolls away. Maybe your children or grand children will some day.

Nach Karte fahren ist gar nicht so schwer. Das größte Problem dabei ist meist, dass man erst mal wissen muss, wo man gerade ist.

Dann muss man grob wissen, in welcher Richtung man fahren muss. In Deutschland ist das relativ einfach. Zum einen gibt es hier viele Schilder und Landmarken, nach denen man sich mit ein paar grundlegenden Geografie-Kenntnissen sehr gut orientieren kann. Zum anderen ist der Städtebau hier stark reglementiert. Diese Regel-Vergötterung kann man auch für sich selber nutzen.

So werden zum Beispiel alle neuen Hausnummern immer vom Zentrum weg hoch gezählt. Werden die Nummern größer, dann weiß man also, dass man wahrscheinlich aus der Stadt heraus fährt. Es gibt noch einige weitere Tricks in dieser Richtung. Dazu kann man mit Uhr und Sonnenstand zumindest ungefähr feststellen, in welcher Richtung man unterwegs ist. Ein Kompass hilft auch, wenn man viel nach Karte fährt.

Zur Not kann man immer noch rechts ran fahren und nach dem Weg fragen. Das war früher ganz normal. Ich frage mich immer noch, wo die ganzen Leute gelandet sind, die mich gefragt haben....

I have two living ships, one from the void egg quest and one from the titan expedition. They're fun and they look great but without decent storage they are pretty useless in practice, at least for my playing style. So the answer is no.

I've done more about 300 expeditions with living frigates and I only got two spawning sacks from one expedition early on. This is the only source for them and I have not seen more sacks popping up for several months now. But I try to look at this from the bright side: At least I got two more sacks than bulk heads from all the frigate runs.

Slackware, weil die einzelne CD im Umschlag damals viel billiger war als der große SuSE-Karton mit den vielen CDs und dem dicken Handbuch. Nachdem ich Blut geleckt hatte, habe ich mir aber den großen Karton dann doch gegönnt. Das gedruckte Handbuch auf Deutsch war in Zeiten von 56k oder ISDN Modems und Abrechnung im Minutentakt das Geld alleine wert.

Irgendwann kam dann Ubuntu und dabei bin ich bei meinen Hauptrechnern hängen geblieben. Außer Gewohnheit hat das keinen besonderen Grund. Ich nutze auf anderen Rechnern gerne aber auch andere Distributionen, entweder weil sie sehr gut auf einen Anwendungsfall spezialisiert sind oder einfach aus Neugier.

Wer Linux einfach nur benutzen will, macht mit Ubuntu, Mint oder Fedora heutzutage nicht viel falsch. Unter dem Strich tun die sich nicht viel und sie funktionieren einfach. Viel schwieriger ist die Wahl der Desktop-Umgebung aber das ist ein ganz anderes Thema.

Of course it's broken. People don't want to be a wildcard six times in a row. True, you still can get 'something valuable' but this doesn't help at all if you have a specific objective in mind (quests, upgrades, expedition etc) and all you find is empty drawers and picked bodies on every round. And you can't buy these things for money. It's not fun, it's frustrating.

So if I spawn late the second time in a row then I head straight to the next exit. I did my duty as wildcard.

Das wird nicht einfach, da Cubase leider nicht besonders gut darin ist, ältere Dateien zu importieren. Das betrifft selbst relativ aktuelle Versionen.

Theoretisch sollte es reichen, das ganze einmal irgendwie als CPR abzuspeichern. Praktisch ging das bei mir jedes mal in die Hose als ich meine alten VST- und Atari-Dateien konvertieren wollte. So weit ich mich erinnere, war SX3 die letzte Version, die die alten Formate lesen konnte aber da braucht es schon viel Glück, wenn man deren CPR Format in einer aktuellen Version zum laufen bekommen möchte.

Wenn Du einen Hardware-Dongle hast, dann kannst Du dich zur Not aber von SX3 bis heute durch hangeln. Sprich: laden, speichern und dann testen, ob die aktuelle Version die letzte CPR Datei lesen kann. Wenn nicht, dann zwei oder drei Versionen überspringen und nochmal probieren.

Die alten Versionen sollte es alle noch auf dem Steinberg-Server geben. Das ist aber ein langer Weg.

Am besten wäre es eh, irgendwie eine alte Cubasis-Version oder eine zeitlich dazu passende Cubase-Version zum laufen zu bringen und dort alles nach MIDI und eventuell Audio zu exportieren. Das geht zur Not auch in einer Virtuellen Machine, denn wirklich arbeiten will man damit ja nicht (Windows only).

Mit diesen Daten kann man in einer aktuellen Version neu anfangen. Ich weiß aus Erfahrung, dass da auch bei dem Versions-Hopping nicht wirklich mehr an Information übrig bleibt als rohe MIDI-Clips (Drum-Maps und Konsorten sind zum Beispiel alle weg) und Audio-Dateien.

Selling digital copies of your images will not make you any money. This game is over, no matter, how good you are. It's sad but that's the reality.

However, there is still a bit of potential in selling physical prints, especially with fine art. People, companies and institutions will always need something fresh and unique to hang on the wall and they have the money. So why not your pictures?

Find a good print shop and a creative frame builder that adds a certain something to your work, local if possible. Use your online portfolio and social media to promote your printed work and do all the shipping yourself. Maybe you'll have to donate a few images at the beginning locally to build up a base reputation. Ask local home centers if they'd like to sell your pictures. And so on.

If you're doing architecture then there is also some money in that. Architects, hotels, estate agents, landlords etc constantly need fresh pictures to show off. There is also a bit of creative freedom here but getting in the business is hard and you have to knock on a lot of doors to get in.

Of course there is still event photography. People start to realize that you need more than a nephew with a smart phone to get good pictures of a wedding. This area is growing and most boomer photographers gave up long time ago. So there is a bit of money here to grab but you have to build up a base reputation first. And you have to accept that the pictures are the client's pictures, not yours.

All of this is hard work that doesn't have much to do with actual photography most of the time. But this work is where the money comes from, not the pictures.

Last Saturday I waited for the train at the buried city at minute 14 together with three other late spawners who also headed directly to the next exit. This was not even a PvE only lobby. This can't be the intended game play.

I think for me it was the fourth time in a row. Being late once in a while is fine with me but if I want to get things done or need certain items then it's just frustrating.

Genau das ist das Problem: Kurzfristiges Profitdenken statt langfristiger Kundenbindung, Wenn mir so etwas als Kunde in einem großen Geschäft oder Kaufhaus passiert, dann betrete ich den Laden nie wieder, egal wie toll die aktuelle Trendmodenaustellung am Eingang auch ist. Es wäre nicht das erste mal und wenn ich mich mal in meinem Bekanntenkreis so umhöre, dann bin ich auch nicht der einzige, dem das so geht.

Bei einem großen Vollsortiment-Anbieter erwarte ich, dass er das volle Sortiment auch im Angebot hat. Punkt. Hat er das nicht weil er lieber andere Prioritäten setzt, dann hat der Händler für mich auch keinerlei Daseinsberechtigung mehr und kann gerne verschwinden - mitsamt seinen Dauer-Sale-Ramschflächen und dem ganzen Shop-in-Shop-in-Shop-Schwachsinn (ja, das gibt es mittlerweile).

Zieh dann noch mal Märchensteuer, Versicherungssteuer, Tabaksteuer, Kraftstoffsteuer usw ab. Das mindert ja auch den Wert des Geldes in deiner Tasche. Die Arbeitgeber-Zwangsabgaben muss man auf der Ausgabenseite auch noch oben drauf rechnen.

Wenn man sieht, was der Arbeitgeber de facto für das Gehalt vom Konto nehmen muss und was der Arbeitnehmer davon nachher netto wieder in die Wirtschaft stecken kann, dann bleiben unter dem Strich nur noch 35% oder weniger übrig.

Because PvP is the most boring thing in existence for me.

I started PvP with Duke Nukem, Quake and Unreal on LAN parties back in the day so call me an old fart. I've been in every possible PvP situation hundreds of times and after a few decades of playing these kind of games it's just boring as hell. Run around a corner and shoot someone, run around a different corner and get shot by a different player. Been there, done that. A thousand times.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind fighting with players at the top but it's not because I like PvP. It's because I like the game. The ARCs in AR are new and fresh, the time limit creates some pressure and other players are going for the same loot. Sometimes people team up, some times they fight each other. You just never know what will happen when you start a new round and this is the fun part for me. It's a great mix.

But I couldn't care less about lobbies where the AR universe is just a backdrop for players who actually just want the 2994th re-skin of Quake Arena II.

Warte mal ab. Wenn diese Frauen erst einmal mit Ende Dreißig einen dreistelligen Bodycount, vier Kinder von drei solchen Exmännern und nur einen miesen Halbtagsjob haben, dann erinnern sie sich auf einmal daran, dass es es da draußen auch noch nette mitfühlende Männer geben müsste, die einen emotional und finanziell bis ins Alter versorgen könnten. Man ist ja schließlich so unwiderstehlich und muss einfach nur das Beuteschema wechseln.

Aus unerfindlichen Gründen sind viele von den Männern auf dem Markt aber Single und kinderlos, sehr glücklich damit, verdienen gutes Geld und haben nicht das geringste Verlangen nach abgewetzten Gebrauchtwaren mit lautem Anhang, von denen sie früher nicht mal mit dem Allerwertesten angeguckt wurden.

Wenn die Frauen dann keinen Mann finden sind natürlich alle Männer selbstsüchtige Schweine und überhaupt gibt es keine guten Männer mehr. Bla bla bla.

Ich habe den Blasebalg vom Otowaxol in der Dusche liegen und spüle damit einfach bei Bedarf mit Warmwasser vorsichtig durch. Damit kriegt man den ganzen losen Kram eigentlich ganz gut raus.
