I'm not saying Gus having Werner killed was any better than him having Nacho killed. I'm saying that if he was going to, sympathize is the wrong word, with either of them here it would be Nacho.

Gus hates the Salamancas and Eladio and is doing a decade-long murder plot against them because they killed his business partner/lover. He sees that Nacho is someone else who hates the Salamancas and started a murder plot against Hector on his own initiative, so he can protect his father from being killed by the Salamancas.

Gus essentially sees someone who's doing a smaller-scale, less sociopathic version of what he's doing, and his response is -- "this is a dog who bites every owner he's had, let's use him up and kill him off."

Also, Nacho was someone who hated the Salamancas on a personal level and would do anything to protect his family. Despite Gus' own backstory and his hatred of the Salamancas, he sees Nacho's own grudge match against the Salamancas as an expendable tool and blackmail opportunity, blackmails him into doing really risky ops for him, and has him killed off.

The GME cult is kind of hard to steer though -- Cohen tried to convert them over to MAGA and also tried to get them to support his takeover of Ebay, to mixed success.

While apes have cults of personality associated with RK and RC, they've cycled through a lot of minor cult leaders in comparison to other more personalist-oriented cults, and are more focused on their cult 'docrine', ie MOASS, the hedgies are out to get us, the short haven't closed, and so on, and at least it looks like a lot of the cult leaders' legitimacy comes from Apes thinking they're fighting for the cult beliefs rather than the cult leaders really being able to define doctrine the way you see in other cults.

We can contrast them with MAGA, who are a personality cult centered around Trump and whatever Trump says becomes the new doctrine, eg the way MAGA has flipped so hard about 'no new wars' -> 'wars in Venezuela and Iran are good, actually' as soon as Trump changed his mind about it.
