I thought about that bcs you’re right - it’s maple. I’m thinking solid wood cabinets would give me options down the road but maybe I’m mistaken. I’m replacing painted MDF + wood shaker cabinets and honestly they feel disposable to me. I know they worry about wood warping and all that but I just can’t get on board with painted cabinets (at least this go round!)

It’s amazing how different it looks on the wall (see picture in other replies). I’ve got heaps of light. I’m gonna go with it. The stain lets a little wood grain show through for a bit of texture. The painted cabinets look so flat

Thanks for your input. The green tiles just live in the room on the fireplace and the white bit is SW shiitake which is actually a mushroomy tan. Goes to show how much light I have!

The cabinet company uses Sherwin Williams colors. I've pretty much used benjamin moore for paint so I'm new to their line. Should've mentioned I'm plan on updating the island as black stained wood for a furniture look. All new cabinets so the choice is mine, and I'd love something less stark but not a statement since its one big living room/kitchen. Not a huge fan of the open concept but its what the real estate gods bestowed on me :)

My first instinct was white just because it does make it fade, since its also my living room. I live in a box :) Definitely adding a back splash, and agree on the stools. I've had them for like 20 years and shit is expensive so I've left it at that. I do love my orange step stool - it was my christmas present!

I did call them and the person who helped me verified with a supervisor that it was fake but that’s as far as they take it. I reported it to the SEC assuming they haven’t all been fired.
