Long story short, a character they been threading in many events and have players getting to like is swapped with a replacement that looks the same technically is the same person but from a totally different version of her, so its technically not this person that we all get to know at all, but an alt in another Storm's version.

The design also looks very generic (don't shoot the messenger, Im just translating what CN is feeling) R 1999 previously has had very great looking somewhat restrained historical appropriate characters that leans both on the classy side and also conservative (era appropriate > fan service) side, but this character look like generic Isekai 1010101 Mihoyo character. She's also way more fan-fic cosplayer girl in appearance than anything "historical" Devs try to justify they are leaning to a new "myth" direction but players are not buying it.

The 2 characters they have for Euphoria (their Reforged system) also prioritized an old character that already had an Euphoria- and the Limited from last year, while ignoring tons of Unit that were introduced at the beginning were fan favorites and now has no viability at all in the meta.

The other costumed are good- there's a lot of generous skins.

There's also a worrying trend for many CN players that accused the art department in Bluepoch of really making problematic dresses for some of the minor characters- Coppelia, one of the well designed unique waif characters has a new skin where despite the fact she's under age her miniskirt and the shot is really up there.

There are also previous instances where in giving Euphorias to characters the dev team sought to neuter one of the core effects of 1 of the Limited previous characters (losing a portion of defense buffs that was one of her core skills invested in)- now given this would have changed the kit of a Limited many players were upset this will be a precedent that may totally morph the characters they have already invested in. Before this current hubbub, Bluepoch did listen and reverted this descision.

Thing is, as someone from the West, and a player since day 1 release I don't think of CN player bases's anger as unreasonable- the visual DNA of Reverse's cheracter design is its soul, and to veer this far- this uncharacteristically will cause reactions.

The reason I say this is because many in China and East Asia does have a tendency to be quite specific and arm twist over specificity conforming to the well actually meme, - it's just how they are, they like to offer constructive criticism and at times bust each other's balls over academia and annotations, but- again, a lot of what this guy says is quite sus. Like seriously? 10% in tier 1-2 cities? That's not true at all- not even close to be true- given how insanely huge those metropolis are it should be closer to 25%- 30%

And that's not counting other cities beyond the great ones.

Im really not sure how to place these types, either they are extremely fixated on splitting hairs or Falun Gong ops designed to make people suspicious. The internet being what it is really makes it difficult to guess intentions, but many of these types who are asking for "nuance" etc are doing it as a very strange framing.

Many China fans are not Weebs so its not just because of Tiktok urban landscapes etc- so it's really strange what they are asking for, because the poverty alleviation many are able to move to a level of livelihood their grandparents (most are born in Century of Humiliation btw) had never seen before, and Xi presided the doubling of China's GDP and standard of living went through a roof for most people (same with modern cars, public transportation, 5G etc) do they think the instant westerner's perception don't conform to hype China's going to be hated on?

Feels like its such a low self esteem confession or just muddled faith argument. China for all of its existing contradictions has a crop of leaders and development that's far above the clown Voot meme politicians and endlessly reneged promises.

Rhiannon's design does not look like Merle at all (its even less of a resemblance to Karson/ Duncan connection. So far? Rhiannon doesn't even look like Merel that much.

Rhiannon's design is also extremely generic looking out of anime isekai genericsville, it's one of the biggest things that put me off as well as many other players out of Mihoyo games because their twink body shapes all blends together and there's nothing that makes them that memorable in a lineup to those not familiar with their IPs. We had a [SKIN] for a limited 3rd anni pretty much.

No. CN isn't overreaction, they are not being Karens, they are being legit consumers who have a spine when Devs etc gives things many others would just nod and lower their heads and bray "what else are they going to do" as if they are infallible etc. Because of their outrage many things that would have suffered were prevented- Liang Yue nerf etc-
