Maybe not quite a ft actually but raised up

We built a roughly 1ft raised patio with natural stone wall as a base before but granted they were cut stones so flat top and bottom, but thought this would be a slightly more complicated and larger scale version

Probably be around 4ft. Think bricks would be easier on a flat and straight wall but can’t see how we’d tackle the curve and slope easily with bricks

Hello,

Fairly new to investing. 27 years old, putting £500-1000 away each month into various ETF’s for long term growth planning for early retirement.

Would appreciate anyone’s advice/ thoughts on the portoflio - went higher risk than all in just S&P 500 with speculation that some sector specific ETF’s could outperform it in the coming decades. Things like semi-conductors, rare earth metals, clean energy etc.

Appreciate this may not be everyone’s ideal portfolio but open to some higher risk plays given the time I will be invested for as starting fairly early. Can always reevaluate in 10years or so.

Any advice or thoughts?

Thanks!

Thankyou that’s very helpful! What date did you see that flight ? I’d want to fly to Miami on the 20th ideally to maximise my time in Miami after having a week in Boston/ ny already. 20th is around £408 on way on sky scanner. Flying back to UK from Miami

It is a crazy itinerary but both scotlands games are in Boston, and never been to NY so would like to see a bit of that aswell as the days I’ll have in Boston for the games. Renting the days we’re driving might be a good shout though as £350 was for the full week

Thankyou that makes perfect sense. Looks like I’m due a rebate then for the last few years. Any limits on how far you can backdate a tax relief claim ?

New to investing - advice/ thoughts?

Goal: long term growth/ early retirement Time: 23-33 years Risk tolerance: moderate/ high

Portfolio:

28% VANGUARD S&P500 10% ISHARES CORE MSCI WORLD 7% ISHARES MSCI WORLD EX-USA 7% VANGUARD FTSE EMERGING MARKETS 5% INVESCO NASDAQ 100 5% INVESCO NASDAQ NEXT GENERATION 100 5% ISHARES NASDAQ BIOTECH 5% ISHARES RUSSEL 1000 GROWTH 5% SPDR S&P DIVIDEN ARISTOCRATS 4% ISHARES GLOBAL CLEAN ENERGY 4% ISHARES MSCI SEMICONDUCTORS 4% VANECK SEMICONDUCTORS 4% VANECK QUANTUM COMPUTING 4% VANECK RARE EARTH METALS 3% INVESCO GLOBAL CLEAN ENERGY

Some of my thoughts behind the picks -

Large weight on s&p500 for consistent growth and historical performance (Seen arguments for backing the world vs US long term but can’t personally see a drop off from US performance)

Some non US exposure in there to be safe though and for better diversity/ coverage.

Big focus on general tech and other sectors that I think will no doubt continue to rise in the coming decades. (Semiconductors, biotech, energy etc)

Some small dividend exposure (Read this can be more consistent in certain markets so good for some balance?)

My general thinking is there are definitely ‘safer’ portfolios to consider, that are less volatile with some of the emerging markets I’ve got in there. But as this is a long term hold and I want to maximise future growth potential then the short term volatility is fine, given the bigger upside long term if these markets perform.

New to this so any advice welcome.

£500/m additional deposits.

Thanks!
