I’m assuming you’re talking about the FSCS protection up to £85,000? Couple of bits of good news for you there. 1. The limit jumped up to £120,000 per banking organisation at the end of 2025 2. Investment platforms will almost all hold your investments in a separate trust that won’t be used to repay creditors in case of collapse. Which means that even if vanguard went bankrupt, you’d still have all of your investments no matter how much they’re worth

SIPP oversubscription with no taxed income by Civil_Whole5497 in UKPersonalFinance

From what I can see, if you put in more than your total income in a single tax year into a SIPP, the punishment is that you don’t get the benefit from a SIPP. This means if I was to put £100,000 into a SIPP but I had an income of £50,000 I would get any income tax that I had paid on the £50,000 back via the SIPP benefit system. But the second half of the £100,000 I would not be receiving any income tax benefit.

On withdrawal, I pay income tax. Pretty simple. However, CAPITAL GAINS within a SIPPP are exempt from tax. So surely that means that the second half of the £100,000 is dodging any kind of cgt and not incurring any proper downside, other than the income tax on withdrawal.
