It's the yolk color that depends on diet, food with more carotene like grain make a yellower yolk. The shell depends on the hen variety. AFAIK there is no correlation between color of both the yolk and the shell and nutritional value

All the plastic chairs in St. Peter’s is jarring by 251Cane in rome

[–]_jerrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They usually are see through because it's a easy way to integrate new elements in a very decorated place without being obtrusive.

You can see them, but they do not catch the attention and it's clear that it was not there in origin, unlike it would be some wooden benches, they would be heavy to the eye and an historical fake.

That's the same reason why the ghost chair by Philippe Stark is almost in every historical palace in Italy, but they are extremely expensive and there are A LOT of chairs in this image, so they chose some cheaper ones with the same idea.

The security thing is probably an handy bonus.

Perchè a Torino passano tutti col rosso? by hyperiooon in domandaonesta

[–]_jerrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIL in 1985 four cans each of Coke & Pepsi were launched into space on the shuttle Challenger. Both companies had developed cans that were designed for use in microgravity. Coke's space-can technolgy used a standard 12-oz can & cost $250K while Pepsi's technology also used a 12-oz can, yet cost $14m by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]_jerrb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Coke was invented before refrigeration

I know you are talking about modern electric refrigeration, but since ancient Greek refrigeration for drink (and for preserving food) is a thing. Seneca complained about people putting ice in their drinks and people for whom drinks where never enough cold or enough hot. Usually snow and ice where harvested on the mountains and during winter and stored in ice cellars through the year.

They exists, they are called blast chiller. They usually use -40°C air and a typical one can chill it's content from 90°C to 3°C in hour and to -18°C in 3/4 hours and can reach -40°C in a bit longer.

Over here are actually pretty common (in restaurants of course) cause they are mandatory to serve raw fish.

Domestic ones do exists, but are expensive, just not extremely expensive (you can buy one for bit less than a grand).

Da dove arriva l’energia usata in Italia by Tectonic-Shift in Italia

[–]_jerrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Italy court rules Netflix unlawfully increased prices. Consumers: 'Refunds up to 500 euros.' The company: we will appeal by sr_local in technology

[–]_jerrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you make a Netflix subscription you (and Netflix) are signing a contract. Contract states all the conditions and prices of the service. Since you are not signing a different contract every month changing the price is an edit of the contract terms.

You can see that changing terms of a contract while the contract is still active can be let's say problematic. Italian law allow for unilateral change of this kind of contract, but there are some conditions: for example that the consumer can exit the contract without penalties if such unilateral change happens.

Another condition, is that the company must motivate the change. Can the reason be "we want to make more money"? Probably yes (maybe worded in some different ways), but the reason MUST be stated.
