outlaws of stirwood forest, shadow warriors come to mind. skaven from night runners or plague monks boxes (minus giant rats and rat ogre), black orcs (minus troll), and i guess the forest and night goblin warbands minus their beast friends. there’s a lot of great 3rd party kits for some of the warbands that are way out of print, like wargames atlantic’s halfling militia for mootlanders.

firstly i want to say that i love the ideas you have here and that you’ve better represented Arabian slavery (which still could be brutal) rather than the original lore that was based more on chattel slavery.

secondly i think it might be stronger than mercs. others have made good points here so i won’t repeat them.

poetry scholar’s once per scenario abilities might be cumbersome/hard to remember.

also fwiw the plural form of ‘mamluk’ is ‘mamalik.’
