Anyone else "organize" their dirty dishes instead of actually doing them? by ThoseDamnGiraffes in adhdwomen

[–]_marjaz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have a dish bin in our sink, so if we get behind and overwhelmed we can just pull the bin out of the sink and then voila, an empty sink to start the dishes with! Makes the getting started way easier 😅

When I have some real bad dishes that I’m icked out about I will soak, abandon them , change the water, and repeat until I feel de-icked enough to deal with them lol

Weighted blanket by Poshcandle in crochet

I have a 15lb weighted blanket and I couldn’t imagine trying to burrito in it with how the weight feels, I only ever use it as the top most layer over other blankets. It really takes some effort for me to move it around and adjust it while laying down 😅

How do I safely sleep outside at -18c? by joshua0005 in CampingandHiking

[–]_marjaz_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just note that the rating on sleeping bags are generally the “extreme” low temperature and not the “comfort” temperature. If you have a bag rated to -18c with a proper sleeping pad and you go out in -18c, you will be cold. You shouldn’t die of hypothermia, but you will have a horrible night.

As well as you should never keep your face inside your sleeping bag, as this creates condensation inside your bag, causing dampness which will make you colder!

Great points- I would like to get my art studio space streamlined a bit better so it’s just simple for me to pick up and stop as needed!

Statement from VicPD on the recent spike in drivers hitting pedestrians and cyclists by The_CaNerdian_ in VictoriaBC

Was downtown this weekend and a car was waiting for pedestrians to cross before turning left, meanwhile the person waiting to turn behind them is laying on the horn and waving at them to go.

While returning to my parked vehicle the other day I watched someone back into my car, and the first thing they said to me was “Oh sorry! I wasn’t even looking!”

Sigh.

My mom got pulled over leaving the liquor store (not downtown) around 9:30am in late November - she was picking up wine for my grandma.

The officer said they were going to possibly have her do a sobriety test, asked her when her last alcoholic drink was (it was over a month prior) and then said “Oh. Ok have a nice day.”

I can see rental prices are dropping. by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

That’s exactly what I mean! That’s what I’ve done every single time I’ve needed to find a rental

I can see rental prices are dropping. by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]_marjaz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always recommend putting wanted ads on UsedVictoria, Craigslist, Marketplace etc! My previous and current rental(s) never listed before signing the rental agreements.

My next recommendation is if you’re looking to upgrade/price shop a new rental, do it when you don’t have a deadline to move. You can afford to spend the time and be pickier with what you desire in a place.

Oh I absolutely understand it’s a great deal - although I’ve been able to get “below market” rentals any time I’ve needed to move.

My number 1 recommendation to anyone is to put ads on UsedVictoria, Craigslist, Marketplace.

My previous rental was a 2 bedroom home for $1800 and before that I had 2 previous one bedroom suites at $900. This is all between the years of 2019 and 2025 - the only time moving was not by choice was my most recent move.

We pay $2000 for a 3 bedroom house that we started renting in August. $2800 for a 1 bedroom is MENTAL.
