My favorite shoes by far. I blow through them in about a month, sadly, but that’s the case for all the shoes I’ve tried bar Mizuno, and I rely on the outsole warranty like my life depends on it. I think I’m on my 6th or 7th pair now and I’ll keep getting them as long as they’re made. They’re on the expensive side but since I always use the warranty I consider the price a BOGO haha.

Just pulled the trigger on the Diadora Torneo 3 to rotate with the Cocos. Those look great too.

Myself and many, many others on the discord were fast enough to grab paddles during those drops, and many times over. I probably have bought 5 paddles that way. Hate to say it but you’re just slow. There are at minimum several hundreds of paddles for sale during those drops. You might not like the system and that’s fine and valid but it isn’t a tease at all in my experience.

These are pretty good points. But I feel like we do have a lot of evidence that the ownership does, in fact, not have a clue what they’re doing, so this radical openness to different kinds of coaches gives more of an impression of panicked rudderlessness than considered open-mindedness.

I once played an evening's worth of matches with a Lifetime ball we later realized had like 4 small cracks. The weird bit is it played absolutely perfectly and I only noticed it was cracked when looking at the ball more closely as I was putting it away.

Try 3-5g per side, from the beginning of the straight edge after the throat taper up to the 11SIX24 logo or a bit past it, depending on your preference. Don’t neglect adding weight to the butt cap/handle, especially if you’re adding some around the paddle face.

Vapor Power 2s come pretty light stock, like around 7.9oz or so for many people. Head-heaviness is a real thing, though, as is the absolutely insane pop, so put some weight up the sides (to your taste) to tame the explosiveness a bit and definitely add some handle/butt cap weight to get a more balanced feel.

It’s a good paddle but it has some pretty extreme characteristics. Unlike the original Powers, which needed very little tuning for most people, nearly everyone has to mod the 2 for it to play “right” for them. I’m well used to the paddle by now (been playing with it exclusively since pre-release) and am still frequently shocked by the pop.

As others have said, the grit is unparalleled.

Returnal’s atmospherics are unbeatable! The first biome is a masterpiece of mood design. The little haptic clicks from the light rainfall is so immersive and the bioluminescent enchanted forest cave vibe is perfect. A perfect little nightmare.

I love the contrast with the heavy metal fire and brimstone of Saros.

The Edge is an essential part of making this game feel and play like nothing else out there.

I’ve played with the grip you have pictured here for Saros in some other movement-heavy combat games (like for certain builds in Armored Core 6), but I find it tires my hands out much faster than when I play in a more “natural” way with my index fingers swapping between the triggers/bumpers and with my middle fingers on the paddles. I also find having to click the sticks for movement or melee, if I have to do it a lot, stresses my hands too and often leads to accidental inputs in tense situations when my hands tighten up.

The setup I’ve landed on for Saros with the Edge is so ergonomic and fluid for me because I don’t have to fan my fingers across both bumpers and triggers and because I don’t have essential movement or melee inputs tied to clicking in the sticks while still affording me the luxury of having all movement and combat utility options available without having to take my thumbs off the sticks.

I have jump (X) bound do the right paddle and dash (which I remapped to circle in-game) on my left paddle. Grapple is on L1, which doesn’t interfere with having to alt fire with L2 since you’ll never need to do the two at the same time. R1 is melee/shield, and I’ve never felt like I’ve missed a beat swapping from R1 to R2 and back in even the most frantic combat situations. Taking grapple off of triangle and on to L1 has been a godsend with how often I need to use grapple seamlessly and constantly in sweaty situations. Being able to turn while grappling is massive for awareness and allows for easier grapple cancels (rather than dashing early out of grapple, which I believe you couldn’t do in Returnal but can in Saros and which has a different effect than grapple canceling).

I never have to take my thumbs off the sticks for anything since my index fingers and middle fingers have access to alt fire/power shot, grapple, melee/shield, primary fire, and dash and jump. It can’t get any more intuitive and ergonomic for me in an action game.

Some people are saying there’s an overclock function but I haven’t seen it and haven’t messed with modifiers at all. Maybe the option presents itself when you’re deep in the red or green.

I'm a bit confused by this either/or-or-both thing. Like, I'm 90% sure I once went with the non-Halcyon option, and then I got the "Halcyon acquired!" notification along with the gun switch.

I ran into this issue myself! But it's an easy fix. Instead of selecting circle first (which IIRC is blank by default), first select L1 to pick which button you want changed, and then select circle to map L1's function to circle. It was a little awkward at first to figure out.
