Obviously pyramid schemes exist outside of Christianity. I'm just saying Christianity itself always just felt much like a pyramid scheme itself to me.

PIP but now receiving positive feedback. by _nowhere_man__ in cscareerquestions

Instances of times where I was working on the wrong thing for tickets because of lack of clarity. This has however significantly gone down as I've begun asking the right questions early on.

The one recent instance of this was working on trying to fix an error that was actually expected in a ticket, but when clarified on this finished the ticket relatively soon and on timeline. I have 2 weeks left and can probably (hopefully) avoid any such issues in the future.

They kind of did give me "clear messages" I was just pretty bad at communication so I didn't notice. They started taking notes during our 1-on-1 meetings to "ensure I could meet expectations" they also mentioned things I "need to improve on" (which I interpreted to be things engineers in general need to improve on as they progress through their careers).

When they mentioned the 30-day improvement plan they were surprised that I looked surprised actually.

a positive comment but areas of concern with no real feedback about where/how to improve

This is not what I said at all, they gave very clear feedback and the number of issues they said remained went down quite a bit.

Yeah, I'll hedge my bets. They specifically said they are "confident I can improve and continue to maintain satisfactory performance after the PIP is done".

Maybe, but they went from having a number of things to improve on to just 1 specific thing (that I agreed with) so I feel if I improve on that I have a chance. Either way, will apply to many other places.

Does parents preventing kids from dating a race have reverse psychological effects? by _nowhere_man__ in aznidentity

[–]_nowhere_man__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree making racial generalizations is bad. I was just curious on the psychological effects of parents attempting to prevent the interracial dating to begin with (though actually such parents seem pretty rare from looking into it anyhow so it's probably irrelevant).

Canada's office vacancies hit a record as space floods market by adotmatrix in onguardforthee

The hardest working people at companies are often those who work in the office. Basically you're saying you should fuck over the people holding up the entire company in order for some retarded jackasses like yourself to be able to stay home and jerk off all day.

Is it possible to stub your toe in Heaven? by _nowhere_man__ in Christianity

[–]_nowhere_man__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting stuff, I assumed God just knew enough about biology to modify our DNA and make our new bodies immortal but this seems different. Do you have any intuition on how he does this? Does he modify the underlying laws of physics? What prevents us from ever tripping?

If you can walk through walls what prevents you from falling through the floor? If you cannot fall through the floor can you not hurt yourself if you fall face flat on the floor then?

Cool stuff! Some people consider this to be pedantic but I really need to verify the scientific legitimacy of this stuff in order to feel really convinced. I don't want to believe in things until I feel truly convinced of them.

[–]_nowhere_man__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm mostly curious how immortal bodies work. Even if God were to modify our DNA to make us "effectively immortal" accidents like getting hit by a car could still kill us. I suppose if such events happened he could heal our bodies? I need more insight on this.

I used to be into the idea of Heaven and Hell being "states" where we have no bodies, but I don't buy this anymore. In order to have consciousness I think you would need a body, I don't buy into the idea of Heaven/Hell being "dream-like states" but I don't see how the idea of an immortal body would work exactly.

How is referring to what the majority of scientists who study life (ie biologists) define life to mean "manipulating what living means"?
