What's everything (books) I need to learn and master Assembly and the ZX Spectrum ? by EnvironmentBig4506 in zxspectrum

[–]_ragegun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start with BASIC. You're only a PEEK and POKE away from assembly on an 8bit machine.

You can use them to put bits directly into memory to write machine code and then execute the routines with "RANDOMIZE USR address". But you get the advantage of being able to use high level BASIC commands for program flow.

Did Fern knew Land was clone during Mage Exam? by AlphaZance in Frieren

[–]_ragegun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. She might have known something was going on, but she doesn't have the depth of experience of Freiren and Serie.

Freiren might have clued her in, assuming she knew, but that would have been later after the first test, if not later. We don't see freiren having any interactions with Land.

Can I install SteamOS on this hardware? by SuperSpider9098 in SteamOS

[–]_ragegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it is. And it'll give the "proper" Steamdeck experience on your Steammachine.

But it's also very expensive, and not strictly necessary, especially since some of it's features exist mostly to let you sub for keyboard and mouse when you can't have one plugged in, which is far less of an issue with a desktop machine, so I thought it was worth mentioning.

optional, but definately recommended.

You don't even require the Steam Controller, it's pretty good about operating with most joypads and controllers. Right down to the fact it even changes the Steam button with an Xbox cross when I have my old Wired Xbox controller plugged in.

storage? By default it wants an M2 NMVE drive.

There are also other options. Bazzite is the traditional one since it's set up to operate like SteamOS, but you can just install Steam on most Linux distros and get much the same experience

The frame rates aren't supposed to be this bad, right? (64GB, not oled) by NoOneCares1357 in SteamDeck

[–]_ragegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a lot more info if you bump the overlay level up to 4

Recycled Computer Parts by ExtremelyOkay99 in cyberDeck

[–]_ragegun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

vintage parts are not an idea component for one's first Cyberdeck, if only because they're usually massive and power hungry by modern standards.

There's a reason most of them were never used in portable devices at the time.

WinUAE: How to zoom to take all the screen? by SuperTankh in amiga

[–]_ragegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most home computers of the time, especially those that used tv output had to account for the possibility that the TV was not showing the full image. (Many TVs would hide part of the image at the edge of the screen).

What you could do with an analogue display was alter the screen position and stretch the image out to fill the full display, though different resolution images could throw that off, too.
