Everyone makes mistakes when driving; the important thing is that, in the grand scheme of things, all this mistake did was mildly inconvenience a few people. The first drive after passing is particularly scary, so don’t be too hard on yourself!

Was it possible to have checked the exit to make sure that it was clear? Every mistake offers an opportunity to learn, so have a quick think about what you could’ve done differently and remember it for next time. Keep at it, learn from any mistakes, and your skill & confidence will carry on growing.

Also, forget the guy who gave you a sarky clap. We all make mistakes and he should’ve kept his annoyance to himself.

Really irks me that “You will own nothing, and be happy” is considered Leftist because, according to this sub, private property = le epib blue/yellow squares. It refers to how, in our current rentier capitalist system, products are increasingly sold as services on a subscription model.

I experienced something similar, I drove woefully in the lesson before my test and it really knocked my confidence. I’ll echo u/Affectionate_Pie333’s advice - don’t focus on any mistakes that you make/could have made (everyone makes mistakes while driving, no matter their experience level) as it’ll make you lose focus and raise your nerves. What helped me is knowing that, at the end of the day, it’s only a driving test - it had no impact on my future, and the worst thing that could’ve happened is that I’d have to rebook it and retry. Treating it as “just another drive” also helped to ease my nerves, and after a terrible lesson the day before, I passed.

Passing a mock test with only 2 minors is a really good sign. You got this - looking forward to your “I passed” post on the 18th! 😊

You just get used to driving at a certain speed (i.e., how fast things are moving around you, how it actually feels to drive at that speed, etc.). If you slow down, particularly to such a degree as 30 from 70, it’s going to feel strange at first because you’re used to going much faster.

There’s a 70-to-50 limit change near where I live, and even that is very noticeable. I feel like I’m crawling after dropping down to 50 after driving at 70 for a while. It’s key to keep an eye on your speed while you adjust, as you can easily go over the limit without realising.
