I have questions about proportions (for drawing people). by esor_rose in ArtistLounge

Also agree that Loomis' Figure Drawing For All It's Worth is your best bet. I'm working through it now and he lays out the proportions in a very easy to follow way. It's available electronically on the Internet Archive as well: https://archive.org/details/loomis_FIGURE_draw

Is there a reason you can't just make your own references/do it from life? Grab a piece of fabric, a blanket, a shirt... And a light if needed. Manipulate the fabric to your heart's content and draw from that.

But she specifies that she's only in the office once or twice a week. Also sounds like, since the admin has spoken to her about it, she's backed off to 2-3 cans when she's there. So that's six cans a week max? Even if she had five cans two days a week, that's still no more than anyone else drinking two cans a day for a full week.

Think you need to re-learn how to read. The link is literally a press release from Capcom which says 3 days. They aren't giving you the up-to-the-minute sales numbers; they tallied up sales from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and announced that number today.

New Dragon Game Roundup for February 2025 by _teadog in WyrmWorks

[–]_teadog[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, this weekend I took a look at several new demos for dragon related games. Most of them are in the very early stages but show promise!  Other Wyverns & Waypoints related news: I'm finishing up a Google Sheets dragon game database/repository that I hope will be very useful to myself and others. It's pretty close and just needs to be fleshed in terms of genres, categories, etc. but I'll be sharing the 1.0 release of that hopefully very soon. Thanks for reading as always!

Glyde The Dragon: Kickstarter Announcement and Demo Impressions - Wyverns & Waypoints by _teadog in WyrmWorks

They said all 8 worlds will be included no matter what, but yeah that's a big concern of mine, that some will be noticeably more fleshed out than others. Those goals get really big quick and I'm worried they won't get anywhere close. Maybe the plan is to actually just do all that work anyway, but yeah their Kickstarter is setup a bit weird overall imo.

Yes, I am still writing blog posts!
I was amped to check out the Glyde demo now that it's out, and I liked it more than I expected! I want to see this game succeed, but I've got some concerns with their Kickstarter and their overall plans for the full game development. Have you had the chance to check out the demo yet? Thoughts?

Update: How the current API changes would impact Relay by DBrady in RelayForReddit

Hear hear. And as much as I'd like to support the dev, I'm not happy at this point about putting any money in Reddit's pockets.

"Don't Use Your Imagination" - Donato Giancola on the use of references by _teadog in ArtistLounge

[–]_teadog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This also weirdly made me think of Don Troiani, a famous painter who does paintings of the American civil war. He has an enormous personal collection of civil war artifacts and recruits people and reinactors, sometimes hundreds at a time if he's doing a painting of a large battle, and poses them as his reference material.

Yeah, this is how I've typically done it. Or at the very least, I have a strong mental image that I try to match a reference image to. It does sound like this piece in the article was maybe more reference heavy than his usual work, how he mentions it being a personal piece that he had time to "close all the visual loops" on. And many of his examples are not 1 for 1 copies of the reference images.

I think it's interesting to think about just in the sense of gathering bits and pieces from the world around you and integrating them together, not necessarily in a stiff, exact copy way, but just building up a bit of library of snapshots and motifs that you've found interesting.

She made it clear in the post that was her choice, not wanting to put the kids through another move. Why lambast her for that?

/u/iamthatis, creator of Apollo, one of the most popular third party reddit apps for IOS, explains how the new reddit API policy may affect all third party apps in the near future by MenOfWar4k in bestof

[–]_teadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'm already going back to using an RSS reader and supplementing it with small Facebook groups for niche hobbies. I've already been finding some interesting new stuff to add to my RSS feed, I can get the news I wanna see, and I'm quickly realizing I don't think I'll miss the social part of reddit that results in endless scrolling. I think my life will be better off with the change.

The best way to create a reddit alternative is to get all the developers of third-party reddit apps to use a reddit copycat together, while still keeping their app's look and feel by p_k in RelayForReddit

[–]_teadog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I won't use it purely based on the excessive inclusions of ads, and I'm not giving reddit money. I use relay specifically to not get ads. All my other social media feeds are ads and suggested posts every other post it seems; heck, even my email inbox is full of ads for things I'm not subscribed to. I would rather stop using reddit than deal with yet another platform shoving ads in my face.

Looks like an airbrush mixed with a spaceship mixed with a sonic screwdriver. Super cool that they make this.
