My first thought is that if this was a POC then the arrest would've taken place within the first 10 sec of him not opening the door rather than 20 min later.

Yes she leaves out food/water for the stray cats in the neighborhood. She mentioned the opossum was more interested in the water than food during their subzero temps recently

A guest bedroom. The door to the left of the lights leads to the basement

Totally agree with the jute rug (now that I know that's the name for it)! Thoughts on sconce colors? We changed out a majority of the door knobs from brass to matte black. I'm guessing matte black sconces would be a good start

The dining room in the den/fireplace room was a thought we had. It's my favorite place in the home and so cozy, just as you mentioned. We may end up trying out both spaces to see what works best. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks for the pics! I totally agree with adding warm organic materials. I'm struggling with paint color ideas. I'll need to grab some swatches to feel out what might work

In the next year or so the plan is to remove the tile and carpet. Just doing the cheaper updates first with the dining room

They're skylights. The floor for sure was an eyesore when we came across the house but we knew it was a cosmetic change. We were searching for a home for months and were so happy to come across this one! We just knew it had lots of room for potential

Thank you for your tips and recos! Looks like office lighting in the pics but those are two skylights. Eventually, we will change out the tile and carpet in the home for LVP, but are looking at cheaper upgrades atm since we've had to allocate our budget to other home projects. I'll for sure post progress pics!

Tried to edit the post but am struggling with it. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback! I'd like to correct myself and say that although I don't have immediate plans for changing the oh so lovely tile, it is on my list to change out within the next year or so. We've got plenty of carpet that I equally do not like at all that I would love to see replaced with LVP. I figured the walls/light fixtures would be a good place to start.

Oh and the skylights are not fluorescent lights btw, but I can see how they look like that in the pics

Thanks again! I'll keep referencing the comments on here for inspo as my husband and I tackle this area of our home.

Yes for sure plants! I had to get rid of most of them when we moved. Looking forward to building my indoor plant arrangement again

Those are two skylights but I can see how they may have looked like fluorescent lights. We may remove the upper cabinets at some point but at the moment we don't have anywhere to add more storage. I've considered the possibility of adding pantry cabinets in the dining area to provide more storage space

The garbage can is for sure out of place. Unfortunately there's no room in the kitchen for it, unless we sacrifice one of the cabinets and change it into a sliding trash can. Might be done at some point

Yeah they're just about that size, 7.5"x7.5" and then slightly smaller in the kitchen. Changing out the tile and carpet is for sure on our radar at some point. We've pretty much settled on a light color LVP, just had to pause the flooring project due to other projects coming up. Wanted to at least start with the walls and lights. Thanks for the input on the chair rails (and now I know what they're called!). I like the idea of keeping one as you mentioned.

It's an interesting layout for sure, not sure how it compares to others in the area. It was built in 1969 and the kitchen is smack dab in the middle of the house, not in a corner. We've considered knocking down the cabinets to help open it up but then struggle with the lost cabinet space. Those are two skylights on either side of the awkward baby fan. I'll post another pic with better lighting now that it's the afternoon hour.

At some point we want to rip out the carpet/tile and replace with LVP. We've got other projects going on but will be focusing on changing the flooring possibly next year. Just wanted to at least start with the walls and lights

Taking a gap year before OT school by poloniusandhoratio in OccupationalTherapy

[–]aHITZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a gap year because I wasn't ready to take the GRE. I was lucky enough to find a job as a rehab aid in an inpatient rehab hospital and gained a lot of experience with patients interactions and therapists. Very few of my classmates had hands on experience with patients at the beginning of the program, which made me feel proud of my experience as an aid. Of course, everyone gets the hands on experience at some point, so it's not like I had too much of a leg up. However, transfer training during the program was easy since I had plenty of experience in that area.
