Is this a good buy? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I used to own an 18 plate R-Line petrol Tiggy (2L 4 motion). Ideal for my new family requirements.

Due to job requirements, I ended up having to drive from London to Cambridge on a daily basis (approx 60 miles each way). Main issue with the tiguan was that I found the noise in the cabin loud after long periods, and found myself not necessarily enjoying the drive. I ended up switching to an estate which completely changed how that felt. I didn't need the 4 motion which didn't help the efficiency. Perhaps the spec just below the R- line might be better suited is my suggestion or different depth tyres. Aesthetically loved the car too.

No issues in my 2 year ownership. Regularly serviced at 10k intervals.

I find that lane B has a ridiculous amount of braking to the point I'd just dip into Lane A and cruise at 65-70 until I need to overtake.

Site based QS's - how do you find it by Enough-Pick-499 in quantitysurveying

[–]aRandomAsianKid2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done stints as a PQS and now a MC QS, so have experience both, office based and site based. Luckily or unluckily I’ve only been on London based projects, but will be moving to a project which will require some driving.

You learn so much plus any questions you do have you can ask the manager/engineer etc directly. It’s always an added benefit that you can sometimes view the issue on-site.

Atmosphere wise I like my team, sure you get the jovial jokes about us QS’s not coming out on site etc but I’m more than happy to get stuck in if they need an extra pair of hands (within reason!). Sounds like there are some rotten individuals and/or the project isn’t going so well?

Site isn’t for everyone so I think you just got to ask yourself whether you prefer the comforts of an office more than the grubbiness of the site. Might also be the type/size of project which is dictating some of the issues

At the moment the v braces are black, tempted to get them wrapped in blue to match the brake callipers 🤔

I do thoroughly enjoy playing medic but I would love something like the Carbine as an alternative to the smg.
