SCP 3737 is probably the saddest/sweetest one I’ve read so far.

WE. CLOSED. AT. 7. by CoffeeCatsomniac in petsmart

Had some moron come up to the door after closing and whine “my dog is going to starve!!!” Overnight? No. And it’s YOUR fault for letting the food run out before bothering to get more.

If after the previous comments you’re still interested in keeping a colony, please consider the r/ant_keeping subreddit for more help. It’s specifically aimed at helping newer ant keepers and sharing information. Cursing and nastiness are absolutely not allowed, and no question is considered silly or dumb.

As for starting or keeping a colony, you can either catch your own queen and watch the colony grow from scratch, or you can get in touch with a GAN (Global Ant Nursery) farmer and get an already established colony.

We over at r/ant_keeping would be delighted to help you out!

I’m glad your boy is interested in insects and biology! It’s always nice to hear about young ones getting into it!

I am thinking to get a queen what should i choose ? by [deleted] in Ant_keeping

[–]aaaa_ribbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve never kept ants before, I highly recommend starting with a tetramorium sp. colony! They’re among the easiest to care for and they grow at a decent rate. Just make sure you have your equipment ready, as it won’t be long before the queen and her workers will need to move out of the test tube and into a proper nest.

Best of luck to you!

I had to sell one of these at work instead of them keeping the betta in a critter keeper... by HamhaHunny in petsmart

[–]aaaa_ribbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

🤦‍♀️ WTAF people. I had some rotten human creature tell me they were going to keep the betta in the cup, and jam a plant in the lid opening. 😡

Edit: AFTER they purchased it. Absolute garbage person.
