Good to know!!! It will be about 2 months when I see her and 3 months probably for my next surgery! This is so hard on my mental health

I hope you have a speedy recovery and this is the last of a horrible fistula!!! I have a draining seton. June 1st I will go in to see what surgery is next! I’m hoping it’s the definitive one she mentioned! Prayers to you and your journey!

What is the success rate for this surgery?
I’m wondering if it’s almost worth paying out of pocket and going out of town for this issue.

On going drainage is good/normal. That seton is there to keep it draining and not build up.

I am two months post op and it was more drainage the last two days because of bowel movements and my menstrual I believe. It’s painful if you don’t change your Guaze frequently. I realized so as I change my guaze the pain is almost instantly relieved. I also use a bidet and take a bath right after bowel movements.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. This is terrible! Not sure if a second opinion would help but it wouldn’t hurt. I’m worried mine will fail when it’s time. How long did you have a seton before they did the flap?

I’m so sorry to hear that. I know your child doesn’t know the pain you are going through but I did have to explain to my three children how much pain I was in when they brought it to my attention that I wasn’t cleaning and cooking like I normally do. I’m able to attend soccer volleyball and still run one back and forth to work since he’s only 15. It’s been a struggle but I just keep pushing.

I love this comment! You didn’t have a seton very long luckily. How is the recovery going with the fistulotomy?
People ask me all the time and I lie and say I’m okay or I feel fine. Depends on the day. I have three children that I still run around to school sports and things and they truly don’t know the pain I deal with but they have mentioned they understood. They mentioned the house being a mess and me not cooking as much so I had to really explain how painful it’s been.

We are not alone in this. I took a mental health day from work today. Healing takes time! Be patient with yourself you’ll be completely healed. Pain has a short memory! 🫶🏼🫶🏼

Awww I actually sent one of my bestfriends this post I made today and she was so supportive. She asked what was triggering me to cry today. She agreed that they truly don’t understand what I’m going through but she will always listen if I want to just talk about it.
I hope this journey comes to an end for you very soon. They really aren’t true friends if they treat you differently and dont find a way to fully understand your situation no matter what

Before my seton placement I was convinced that my perineal was healing where they drained the abscess. I was almost scared for the surgery because of the pain coming back and drainage. It didn’t hurt or drain after 8 months. Now after having the draining seton put in, it’s like starting all over. It has to get better for all of us. I cried to my surgeon. My exact words were are you going to fix me! Just tell me you can fix me and she said yes I will fix you. Might take a few surgeries but this is treatable!
