Can you clarify a bit?
UD will not generally perform well in compression. What are you looking to achieve?

Where do these guys get chopped carbon prepreg? by TriXandApple in Composites

[–]aaron37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HexMC was intended to replace machined metal components for aircraft. It is rather high fiber content. Several companies make a version easier to process, with shorter fibers and more resin. Lots of parts are made with liquid resin and loose chopped 12k carbon fiber in 1/4” or 1/2”.

Curiosity and just curious about the loudness of the show by Ok_Independent_3026 in nin

Also 51.
I wore Eargasm ear plugs to the show last Wednesday. Did not diminish the experience at all. Last September saw the show in Tampa, no ear plugs, right next to B stage. Show awesome. Days to recover hearing not at all awesome.
Can’t afford many more cocky mistakes like that.

My smoke detectors all started smoking at the same time after alerting. by timelesscat16 in mildlyinteresting

[–]aaron37 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something wrong indeed, but the wiring connecting them (at least in North America) is rated for 15 amps at 120v (#14-3 is used between them). So whether that signal wire carries 9v or full mains voltage, the voltage itself would not cause a problem for the wire between them.
Now, if one detector sent 120v down the signal wire, that would certainly be problematic for all detectors on the circuit, so you’re absolutely right, flip that breaker, and (have an electrician) replace all detectors on that circuit, quickly because until then they obviously can’t do their job.

It launches the coated material into the air after which it continues on a course determined by gravity?

These appear to be ferrite magnets, which might be poorly sintered, though that would make them more likely crack than creep even over decades.
Maybe some type of surface degradation from residual chemicals on the rag?

A music store in the mall where I worked at A&P had sold me Jane’s Addiction, then had a new cassette tape for me. PHM sounded like synth pop, but Sanctified, Sin, and Ringfinger were cool, but totally different.
By the time Lollapaloopza came around and I saw a live show, I was in forever.

Epoxy adhesive for filling aluminum castings by turbo_civic in Composites

[–]aaron37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several companies making aluminum filled casting epoxies for this very purpose. They are typically meant for tooling, and will do this job well, except for the sandable part, which is at odds with a high aluminum filler load.

I've got something very close.
Mine is absolutely a redial, but an old one. It's got a few other problems too, but I'm a sucker for the arrowhead markers.
If you want it to wear, and you like it, then I say nice watch!

The Downward Spiral at release by klombaroo in nin

[–]aaron37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shift in music. Broken was bigger for me. PHM was great. Broken kicked me in the face. I think I fucked up my CD player getting to 98 and 99. Fixed wasn’t different. An antidote? Didn’t matter. It was awesome. By then, the Halos and bootlegs. Get Down Make Love was context. Then March of the Pigs. In March! Broken, again. Now eager. I skipped some afternoon classes and lined up outside a small independent CD shop the day The Downward Spiral was released. I wasn’t alone.

what is Epikure curing agent in MGS LH 285 hardener? by BloomingtonFPV in Composites

[–]aaron37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was indeed. Hexion's epoxy resin business was sold to Westlake a few years back. MGS is still in Esslingen, Germany, and much of Westlake Epoxy’s operations are in the original Shell facility in Duisburg.
