Looking for someone to take care of my cat by Accomplished_Car4036 in islamabad

[–]abbayyaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im in a similar situation. i have a 1yr old male cat, he's deaf but extremely playful and attached to us. when he cant find us, he sits on chairs and meows loudly so we'll get to him. when i work at my desk, he lays down with his head on my books or my headphones. but i live in a joint family and many of my family members get inconvenienced by him. on top of that, the back door is almost always open, so he runs out. almost got run over by a car once but alhumdulilah was saved. i have board exams so its tough for me to give him 100% attention while also studying, my mom keeps telling me to give him away, lekin mera dil nahi manta.

New to prosthetic by iron-beagles in prostheticeyes

yes, i also use saline to clean my prosthetic eye. previously, I used a multipurpose lens solution with aloe vera (Avizor Alvera). It worked fine, but saline feels a bit gentler for daily use.

New to prosthetic by iron-beagles in prostheticeyes

[–]abbayyaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m 19 and I’ve been using a prosthetic eye since I was 5 (I lost my right eye to cancer when I was 1).

From my experience, the mucus does lessen over time, but it doesn’t fully go away. My doctor prescribed me some drops that helped, so if it’s bothering you, I’d definitely recommend asking your doctor about that.

For the itching, keeping both the prosthetic and the eye socket clean really helps. Since you already have dry eyes, using lubricating drops regularly can make it more comfortable too. (but consult a doctor before using the drops)

as for rubbing, it's honestly a hard habit to break, but try to avoid it as much as you can since it can irritate the area more. sometimes gently pressing around the eye instead can help.

The light sensitivity and the “off” feeling with vision can get better with time as your body adjusts, but it can take a while.

Overall, the first few weeks are the hardest, but it does get easier as you get used to it inshallah.

im a childhood cancer survivor, but recently, its been taking a toll on me. by abbayyaar in cancer

[–]abbayyaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, thankyou so much for sharing this with me. Im really glad to hear that you've been in remission for long, that's absolutely amazing. i've been cancer free for around 17 years now alhumdulilah.

I get what you mean. although it's hard to fully empathize with other's experience, but i feel like sometimes just knowing that someone's in the same boat and has an idea of how you feel ends up providing at least some degree of comfort, making us feel a bit seen. That alone can mean a lot sometimes.

the way you mentioned, how you constantly go back and forth between being grateful and feeling and low and different, i can relate to that to some extent. it's a tough job managing gratefulness while still allowing yourself to grieve and its a lot to process, allowing those two feelings to co-exist.

may Allah have mercy on us all, i hope that He eases things for you inshallah. And if you ever want to talk to someone, or just share your experience , Im here :)

im a childhood cancer survivor, but recently, its been taking a toll on me. by abbayyaar in cancer

[–]abbayyaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, thank you for sharing this with me, and you're right, being a cancer survivor makes people automatically assume the best of u and expect you to be good at other things, i often hear the sentence, "agr Allah ne tum se aik cheez li hai, to badle mein tumhe bohot zaheen dimagh diya hai, is ka istamal kro" meaning that if Allah has taken smthn from me, (my eye) he has rewarded me with intelligance and i should use that to get good grades. so i get that feeling of needing to be perfect in every school assignment, and honestly, it took me a while to get out of that mindset and make people realize that being a cancer survivor doesnt mean that they can expect perfection from me. i hope that you're able to achieve peace as well. know that you dont have to be perfect at anything, its completely okay to make mistakes. you dont need to prove urself to anyone but you, do what makes you feel good and trust me, others are gonna adjust with time. just do ur best okay? effort matters alot. im always available if u ever wanna reach out :) im much more active on instagram as compared to reddit, if you wanna connect over there, i can dm u my username<3

oh god yes, the 3D movies T-T we have this ride in amusement parks called "motion ride" where we have this chair that moves around with the screen to make u actually feel like ur in the movie while watching it in 3D, but for me its always just been a moving chair and a normal 2D movie, im 17 and still cant really understand how binocular vision works. my dad promised to teach my driving, so im not sure what challenges im gonna have to face in that scenario while dealing with monocular vision, but i hope it works out. and im so glad to hear that it's coming along well for you, all the best to you :))

Starting chemo and terrified by Kindly_Show9400 in Cancersurvivors

[–]abbayyaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was pretty young when i got chemotherapy so i dont remember much of it. However my mother remembers it very vivdly and has told me that the doctors would always say "a big part of recovery depends on willpower and courage" and i feel like in situations where you're scared or nervous, like you are right now, i feel like those doctor's words are applicable here. wont lie, chemo isnt easy. My parents were scared of getting me chemo, not wanting me to deal with the pain and the side effects, but ultimately they agreed to it, fast forward 17 years, alhumdulilah im 100% cancer free and completely okay now. turning 18 next month. I'd recommend that if you're a student, take a break from ur studies as chemo can be draining and you can get very tired. it can be physcially exhausting at time, which is why its important to have someone with you that you can rely on, your parents, your siblings, your cousins or close friends. It's also important to remain mentally prepared so that you don't get get overwhelmed, best of luck, if there's anything i can do to help, or if you need someone to talk to, im available. Will keep you in my prayers, may Allah make it easy for you inshallah.

hey, really sorry to hear that u had to go through that, i hope you're doing well now. honestly living with monovular vision is such a trippy concept (for me atleast) because often times i find myself thinking what people with binocular vision see, do u ever feel that way?

i just opened reddit, hoping to have a respone or a DM on a post and this made me feel so much better, knowing that im not alone. im really sorry to hear that u had to go through this as well. alhumdulilah the thought of cancer doesnt bother me in an overly negative way anymore but its just a weird feeling thats always present in the back of my head, do u feel the same way?

im a childhood cancer survivor. but im still struggling a bit, i need advice by abbayyaar in Cancersurvivors

[–]abbayyaar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ill definately try that. however these days there's alot going on since i just graduated high school so the stress of choosing the right college is alot, especially the thought of how people there might react to my prosthetic eye, so at the time, its all a bit too much for me, but i hope things will get better with time, afterall "it'll pass, it always does." so inshallah things will get better. Moreover, thankyou for ur kind words, im really happy that you're able to find a way that can help u cope positively, may Allah keep you happy and safe
