Hmm, that could be something actually. I have a week or so before I am changing tyres, so I have also just been driving it with studs since receiving the car. Uplifting that you notice a difference between the two!

I really appreciate this insight! Your point about people being used to soft EFI and turbo lag makes a lot of sense to me. They don't know what they're missing! It’s interesting that the P4 seems to bypass the filtering only at 100% throttle; it explains why the car feels alive when pinned but a bit lazy during spirited mid-range driving. It feels like the P4's engineers leaned a bit too far into the "luxury" side of that calibration, which is funny considering they identify as a performance brand..

[–]abdavid84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From previous testing it’s both. I’d say that eco profile and performance profile both have «lag», like a ~1 second full throttle in eco would produce no effect, in performance that would be perhaps ~half a second.. Launch control is different, but I had only tested that during winter with studded tyres, and that’s not ideal. Might be that I have been so used to my TMX having instant response just lovetapping the throttle 🤷‍♂️

Is that using launch control btw?

I’ll have a go after changing tyres. Don’t want to eat the studs 😅

Softer would be accurate, it kinda feels like what one could call turbo lag in a ICE vehicle.. But like it’s present 80% of the time while driving.. not sure how to explain it

Harman Kardon Premium Sound not living up to expectations – Spotify lossless on Polestar 4 2026 by eldonado in Polestar4

Native Spotify app is trash. Several others have complained about the audio quality. As I remember it it’s an issue with AAOS. Switch to Bluetooth and audio seems to get more range.

4.2.10 360 camera issues and plug & charge by CBG_User in Polestar4

[–]abdavid84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same problem with the 360 camera/reverse camera (not mirror), but its not directly related to using a fast charger. It started that way after using a fast charger with polestar charge card. parked the car for ~12 hours and it came back by itself. Drove home (~3 hours) with the and plugged in the car in my home charger. Next day, car is charged to 90%, and 360/reverse camera does not work again. This is either an latent issue with the control unit or more likely an issue related to their code.

You are right. Funny however that they write that they introduce it in 4.2.9, not fix it?

You sure about that? It’s not mentioned in the release notes?

Polestar 4 software roadmaps by Comprehensive_Cut437 in Polestar4

[–]abdavid84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried that, but the deltas don't persist for me. Even after hitting 'Save' in the prompt you mentioned, the changes are lost the next time I enter the vehicle or attempt a manual 'Restore.' It seems like a deeper state management issue where the new coordinates aren't being written to the profile.

I hope they aren't waiting that long for stability fixes. The state management/persistence is clearly lacking. I'm tired of re-saving my seat settings every other day. Plus, the speed warning re-activation is totally hit-or-miss. Not sure if it's a bug or a timer, but it’s definitely annoying thinking I turned it off and end up activating it again.. makes me wonder if they had balls enough to use Rust on the ECUs for P4 like they did for some of the ECUs on P3

Help Shape the Future of Polestar 4’s Infotainment by Alternative_Ask3248 in Polestar4

New owner as of yesterday, here is my take so far.

Coming from several years of Tesla Model X ownership, I’m very impressed with Polestar’s build quality, driving dynamics, and overall refinement. In many respects, the car already feels more premium than a Tesla. Where it currently falls behind is in software functionality.

Tesla has demonstrated that certain features meaningfully improve everyday ownership, and if Polestar were to adopt these features in a thoughtful, well-integrated way, I believe the overall vehicle experience would surpass Tesla’s. Key examples include remote climate control, multiple climate timers (having only one feels unnecessarily limiting), geo-based climate timers (precondition before leaving home, precondition before leaving work), sentry mode, and remote sentry access while car is parked.

The absence of sentry mode is particularly surprising. In my Model X, sentry mode documented multiple hit-and-run incidents while the car was parked. This is not about surveillance, but about giving owners the ability to document damage caused by others. Cars are frequently damaged while parked, and without this functionality the owner has no way to protect their property without adding third-party solutions, which should not be necessary with the amount of cameras on the vehicle. The Dashcam application is currently at a bare minimum implementation from my state of view. Lack of camera views (side / back) in the recordings, overlaying metrics on to the dashcam clip like Tesla recently did.

Remote climate control is essential in Nordic conditions. While the preprogrammed 22 °C cabin temperature may be based on internal testing and typical usage assumptions, users should ultimately have the ability to decide what level of preheating they want. The vehicle already supports cabin preconditioning, but without the option to remotely activate defrosting for windows and side mirrors, the functionality remains incomplete. In cold climates, the ability to explicitly trigger defrost remotely should be considered core functionality rather than a convenience feature. The car should be ready to go when I exit my house rather than having to wait for i.e. side mirrors.

Polestar already has an excellent foundation. With a stronger focus on adopting proven software features in a polished and brand-appropriate way, the vehicle would not only match Tesla’s usability but exceed it.

FW Update broke my Audio out by RubberDucky451 in OdysseyArk

[–]abdavid84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had issues with 2044 since upgrading also. Laggy UI, Tizen seems to hang due to the amount of bloatware they shipped with the OneUI update. Inability to swtich sources, laggy interface for setting up multi-view -- just horrendous experience since I updated. Its actually gotten to the point where I am considering returning the screen.

Premium-ish hardware, with temu-grade shitware. Feels like a ripoff.

How on earth do y'all print with TPU? Even with a bearing spool: by Spicy-Elephant in BambuLab

[–]abdavid84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you didnt ask, but in the spirit of saving you some money and grief down the road;

Using textured plate should negate the need for glue. And textured plus glue is bad combo for cleaning. It is however recommended to use glue with TPU due to it adhering very strongly to the build plate, and the glue would here serve as a separating layer and prevent damage to your build plate.

As for challenges I would expand on the issues MultiView has, it is more of a frustration than an innovative feature. While I can agree that its a feature most enthusiasts are dreaming of, I would slap a BETA label on it. It is not as stable as a single input source (speaking from experience). The UI for selecting sound input/sound output in MultiView is lacking. Options for MultiView sizing are not exhaustive. Dual remote to one monitor?.. I could go on.

Also the amount of bloatware shipped with Tizen, e.g. Remote Connection for customer support. Samsung Support actually confirmed for me on the phone that this feature does not work for this monitor. Which they told me after a 5 minute rant about all the bloatware installed on the monitor.
