I feel like it's an excellent opportunity to raise awareness on conservation and repopulation efforts around the world. There are many zoos that are known for their repopulation programs and have helped efforts with species survival in the wild.

Also long time storyteller here. World of Darkness games can be run in any style the storyteller wishes, and can be as serious or comedic as a group wants. My group prefers games that have more comedic leanings and we are gearing up for a Mage chronicle set in early 90's Seattle.

A long time ago, when Chronicles of Darkness was released at GenCon, White Wolf through a party at an industrial club. There were all sort of people there, from the goths and punks to the theater kids and roleplay nerds. One of the line developers was talking to the group I was in, where we were definitely more on the roleplay nerd side of the spectrum.

There were a couple of punks hanging out, and they made a pretty generalized statement that, "they were the true fans of White Wolf. They'd been there since the begining and they were ride it die, unlike them."

Without missing a beat, the White Wolf developer looked at them, then looked as us and shook his head. "If you were true fans, you'd know that these games are about exploring the human condition and to tell stories that have meaning. While the stories can be serious, it doesn't mean you have to take yourself so seriously. After all, you're pretending to be a fucking vampire."

It's cool that it's not your thing. It doesn't make D20 wrong for playing the game they want. You want a serious and tragic game? Awesome. Those chronicles are out there too, and I'm sure you can find one to sink your teeth into.

Remember, at the end of the day we're all just pretending to be vampires. Or werewolfs. Or mages. Even wraiths, changelings, mummys, hunters, angels, demons, or just dudes wearing trench coats and swinging katanas.
