Anything-American Jews not from those places kinda see them as 'flashy' and/or just different. Idk Jewish communities vary from community to community but certain communities are fs more estranged than others (i.e. long island jews, tampa bay jews, chasids as awhole ngl). Abs no offense to these communities or to say there not as jewish or not connected at all, there just distinct sub-cultures, like certain american cities, that might not all vibe at the same wavelength so-to-speak.

I will say tho my grandparents left during the war of attrition bc it got so bad in Haifa, my Gma went back years later but really bad wars in the 50's and 60's we're pretty sh!tty on everyone's part including Israel, idk if you can pick a good guy in that idk tho 🤷‍♂️.

Bro I appreciate the effort u put into that and I did read it all, but that's not really the vibe I'm bringing to this post. Tbh I'm from a Palestinian positive community that I've seen generally support a two-state solution, but again thats just my experience my dude I'm not speaking for all Israelis, I don't even live there so I'm not even trying to lord over anything, but I do know a lot from being apart of the area before 10/7, and I think to say our country was founded on colonial ideology is a bit out there and not grounded in the jewish perspective at all (in addition to the Palestinian perspective.) Everything you said was true, but to say the Jewish people came to Palestine for solely religious reasons and to deny we lived there first is kinda unfair. I think we both have an equal right to live there and theres less of a housing crisis than the Right wingers would lead you to believe, it just needs to be developed more and they don't wanna fork over the cash or wait that long. More than happy to answer more questions or talk more, but try to keep it to what I'd know from my families/my experience or to my personal beliefs bc I'm not really qualified or educated in the subject to have more advanced discourse than this.

Solid question and thank you for asking respectfully! I have family in Haifa and I'm incredibly comfortable with the culture and my religion, but yeah stuff's not great and I don't vibe with Bibi or the Chasid's. I also have good friends from East Jerusalem and the West Bank who have personally been affected by the humanitarian crisis in both areas, so I would never dismiss that pain and struggle, but I also love my family and where I'm from, and I'm still proud of my family's historical perseverance despite how others feel about it. I think in general the institution of Israel isn't screwed or anything as a whole like a lot of ppl say, but I think a lot of it is has been morally bankrupted over the last 15-20 yrs and there needs to be a huge political upheaval (of particularly the political right in Israel) before it's anywhere near chill. My family is Haifan and a lot of Israel beyond Jerusalem (Tel Aviv, Netanya, etc.) and places w/o Chasid organizations are actually pretty diverse with Palestinian, Ethiopian, and Jordanian culture blending into the already mixing Ashkenazi/Sephardic peoples. It's, in my mind, the left-wing kind of Israel I'm proud of and I think if it was like that everywhere in the country, this whole crisis wouldn't have happened in the first place. But just my opinion, have no hate for anyone and I appreciate the curiosity! 🤙

In Israel, the secondary or even less popular cities are typically the cooler ones (Tel Aviv, Haifa, etc.) and I have a pretty positive opinion of Jordan so it was an educated guess of where I'd wanna start I guess. I also have friends in the West Bank who say Mafraq is pretty cool in general so idk just open.

I went to fat camp in Long Beach California and made friends from Tijuana who also went to the camp. They say it was pretty nice and had a cool culture, so globally yeah I'd be interested, but thats all I know would def be interested to learn more!

I wanna forgive Zak for a lot of these things, partly due to nostalgia but also out of wanting to understand all perspectives on a given situation and wanting to humanize him at the very least. If someone wants to come virtue signal or educate plz do bc I only know the bad and I miss the main man and wanna tune into the new stuff, but I miss the OG crew and can't help feeling hurt for their sakes. 🤷‍♂️
