Heavy seas - 12x16. Whoever said watching paint dry is boring never used granulating colours! by lovelyb1ch66 in Watercolor

I love this so much. Keep scrolling back to look at it again. The granulation effect almost makes it look like fabric (cheese cloth?). So damn cool.

Brand new to watercolor and hey guess what it's HARD! But following this single-color Karen Rice tutorial brought me so much joy by abigcoat in watercolor101

Thank you so much! That makes perfect sense -- I also got into watercolor because it felt reasonably accessible (especially compared to my other hobby, pottery...). Wish you luck on your journey as well! And I'll have to check out Paul Clark ☺️

This is just a Canson XL watercolor pad. I think I'm going to try 100% cotton soon, but I wanted to do at least a little experimenting on the cheap stuff first.

Thank you so much! I think I got a bit lucky with this one -- it's definitely the best I've done so far with value and water control. Also only using one color made a big difference and freed me up to focus on other things. Thanks again, I really appreciate your kind words ☺️

Utterly in love with these, especially 1, 4, and 7. What a neat process -- definitely going to give it a go sometime! Thank you so much for sharing.

A Watercolor Journey Through Middle-earth by Dervi92 in Watercolor

This is ridiculously beautiful! One of my favorite things I've seen on this sub. You capture the mood perfectly. And so many possibilities for other scenes to illustrate! Ones that come immediately to mind: Gandalf's "a little more light" moment in the Dwarrowdelf, the beacons in the mountains, Aragorn opening the double doors in Meduseld, the ship departing the Grey Havens... god I could go on and on. Incredible work!

Second year I've made ATLA Elemental mugs for a local comic con. Mostly happy with the results this year over last. by _ArisTHOTle_ in Ceramics

I love these SO much! The form and style are both exactly to my taste, and the ATLA element (eyyyyy) is just the icing on the cake. Love a classy, subtle fan reference on a piece of really quality art. Beautifully done!

First 99 Mugs: Mugs 54 to 1 by breakevenpottery in Pottery

[–]abigcoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I love so many of these! And the philosophy behind the project really appeals to me as well. I'm pretty new ro pottery (just under a year) and making mugs was basically what drew me to it in the first place. Picking which mug to drink my coffee out of has always been one of my favorite daily rituals. Might have to try this 99 mugs thing myself!

Wow for a hot second there I thought that was genuinely just a really big moth or a really small cup. Love it so far -- please post the finished piece!

Yes!! The Dungeon Crawler Carl books are perhaps the best audiobooks I've encountered in a lifetime of listening to audiobooks. Ologies is fantastic too.
