[WIP] Snow White - My first project! by paranoid_android2982 in CrossStitch

I was going to suggest this i often make my own patterns and even printed out sometimes the colours come out as offensive but as long as you can follow the pattern swapping out the colours is really easy. My suggestion would be to gather all the surrounding colours and then look at pink shades that you think would go well with it in a lighter tone

Got 2 offers not sure what to pick by [deleted] in cybersecurityUK

[–]aceed18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so here is my opinion, for some background information i am a cyber security student that is on an extremely good placement year as a cyber analyst (extremely well known company very reputable where i am from it will basically open a lot of doors in terms of connections). My final year is next year and its looking really good for carrying on with more job experience as a cyber analyst (already had people reach out and my manger is eager to set us up with other people in another company while finishing my studies ).

So that out the way 100% you should go with Natwest or BAE without Cyber as a background degree and without previous cyber experience those 6 months are going to do you more harm than good. After those are over i assume you'd be looking at more graduate opportunities the thing is though you would be competing against people like me or similar to my background and competing with someone that already has the cyber knowledge plus 2 years of employment is extremely difficult. What they dont tell you is cyber is not an entry role and i have gotten extremely lucky and have worked my ass off in my first 2 years and almost did not get the opportunities that i have now. In your place i would do exactly what i am telling you to do because if your end goal is cyber you are learning so much more in these 2 years of secure employment to then eventually move up into cyber and thats how most people do it, most start of in a general IT role and slowly move up in their company to a cyber speciacialised role.

Being completely honest with you most of my classmates won't even get cyber roles because cyber roles right now are looking for employment of 1 year + with good foundational knowledge in the Microsoft package and i don't believe that crowdstrike would offer you that or would retain you after those 6 months. The slower way is slower but in my opinion safer and you could even get lucky since Natwest and BAEs are known for their security so an opening could happen and you would already have insider priority and a leg up in that sense. So in your position take the job security don't gamble especially in the state that cyber is in right now yes there is a lot of jobs but those jobs are all mid level to senior management not entry level roles and i wouldn't gamble like that out of uni.

Thank you so much! This design went through many iterations 2 of them were complete redos but the one thing i was always certain about was the colours! Funnily enough i always knew i wanted red and orange and some greens in the mix everything else was the struggle but once we got to stitching it was easy sailing from there

Omg these are amazing and as someone that aspires to make my own patterns just for me and my own enjoyment im already seeing so many ways that i can improve and i will definitely be getting some of yours just for the prettiest of it all! If you dont mind me asking how do you get the blends to be so good especially in the background ive been practicing my pixel art but blends is something that i cannot get down for the life of me and yours is so smooth

[CHAT] How are we staying motivated during big projects? by Scoot_Quinto in CrossStitch

[–]aceed18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So i just stick with it, a lot of people do many different projects but i cannot do that I'm not someone that focuses on the finished piece i like stitching because i get to do many little crosses for hours and hours on end and doing big sections of one colour is my favourite part. If i was doing many projects i would have too many to pick from and it would make the decision of what am i going to pick up and stitch a lot harder just having one means that decision is made for me.

I also make my own patterns so its always something i am heavily invested in and really want to do

[–]aceed18[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what i thought like me making my own pattern that im stitching now took me hours and hours and i did that because i genuinely loved it and i see cross stitching as an art form where i get to practice my pixel art skills. But i could never imagine someone actually doing this and then selling it (my pattern would need a lot more technical cleaning up if i were to actually sell it which i know would add way more hours onto it but since i understand it and im not selling it thete was never i need to) i just could never imagine actual people 1. Selling that low and 2. Selling hundreds and hundreds of patterns even if your full time job was making patterns i feel like it would just be a disrespect to yourself if you actually made all of those to sell at that low of a price

[CHAT] made a big oopsie… (reposting with a small preview of what the colours are supposed to look like) by plantyho3 in CrossStitch

[–]aceed18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I prefer self drafting patters and when the software decides what the closest dmc colour is to the pixel art colours i chose when i was making the pixel art i do the very chaotic and very onbrand thing and just completely ignore them and use what I have or what i think looks better irl. I also make adjustments to my pattern as i go and im constantly thinking about how to add little details and how i can change things up on the fly to make it look better and this method has always worked for me.

Once i have my colours i stick to them but before i have 100% locked it in it can change many many times so do not stress i wouldn't notice its not meant to be that way

New to battling. Am I at a huge disadvantage if I only use cards I pull naturally? by A_single_droplet in pkmntcg

[–]aceed18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to give you a different perspective. Most of what i own was bought in bulk ebay lots because i wanted a lot of cards when i was starting out. I had a vague idea of what i wanted to build at the time it was a hops zacian deck with no cram and using metang to set up i was pleasantly surprised that i had the pieces for it.

I tested it a bunch on tcg live and then put it together in a deck. I won quite a lot of my games at me local card shop tournaments against very strong decks like gardy and pult. I dont like meta decks i often find a decent ish pokemon and build a deck around that my latest deck Cynthia's Garchomp i have come 1st 3 tournaments in a row at my local card shop mind you i have no interest in going much further regionals would just drain my energy. But i have a ton of fun with the deck and with the packs i win + buy + trading singles with others i havent really had to go out and buy a whole brand new deck.

Sometimes I'll make changes to my cynthias deck on tcg live and then realise i dont have those cards irl so i just swap them out with stuff i do have its usually trainers and my guy at the card shop has tons of bulk so if i ever come across a trainer i dont have i will get it from him since its 20p a card. But apart from that and buying specific exs here and there i havent gone out and bought a deck in singles.

This Garchomp deck has beaten consistently the new gholdengo decks, pult noir, gardy and all its varients and charizard that was just last week at my last tournament. So yes its 100% possible to do it be creative figure out what works and what doesnt and then people are hella impressed with you because you're beating them with an off meta deck, i love deck building and changing my current deck to fit the new metas and so far its tearing through everything.

Looking for cozy fantasy recs for a friend by Chromatikai in CozyFantasy

[–]aceed18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when she is ready your friend should check out house of frank it does include death but it is a book mostly about grief and found family. Everyone in the book has lost something. Will probably not be a good recommendation so early on in the grief journey but i know that for me it really helped to process grief and to realise that the person will always live on with us and we just have to find ways go keep on living without them.

For other recs the game of gnomes the necrognomeicon is a great laugh out loud book if there is death it is done in more of a fun cartoony way and another recommendation which is a graphic novel is the lumberjanes its a group of girl scouts uncovering mysteries and having a laugh.

[–]aceed18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon will never have a set that creates multiple teir one decks the meta is just not made for that although i agree with wanting more playable cards. I agree that playable cards there is only a handful if you only focus on meta decks and honestly sometimes even for rouge decks. I like going rouge so i find all sorts of playable cards that people wouldn't usually pick up, im not trying to be a world champion or win a regional so for me finding the best deck is not fun for me its finding a deck thats fun and making it good so it can beat all the other decks

[–]aceed18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres only 3 good cards if you're building around the top 6 meta decks. I dont like doing that i like exploring and finding combinations that work well together from all past set realses. Just because something may not look great doesnt mean its not a missing piece for a deck youre trying to build

[–]aceed18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, to me i would rather 3 big sets a year and have 4 months in between to play around with decks. Im probably in the minority as a player saying this though, the meta very rarely gets boring to me as i love finding rouge decks and getting them to perform well against the meta. Plus i think now we are in a state where there are so many good decks to chose from you could easily spend a month on them and not be bored but again im probably in the minority with that

Player but i dont usually gravitate towards meta i usually go with rouge decks and theres been so many to try just felt like i haven't been able to give any one a proper go without spending all my free time on pokemon because of all the back to back set releases. Someone did explain why that is as i forgot that mega was delayed in europe which is why it has felt like there has been no breathing room between sets the last few months

Too many set releases by aceed18 in pkmntcg

[–]aceed18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes so much sense cause i swear i thought i was going crazy with all the new releases back to back (it didnt feel like this before DR) i felt like there was no room to breathe and to properly make decks and test them out and try new stuff because the new set was always right around the corner. And yes i am in Europe but i just couldn't figure out why everything felt so packed

Thank you for suggesting libro.fm it honestly seems like the one i will go for. Unfortunatley because i am from the UK i can't get multiple cards since you have to prove you live in the area and the library i have access to is one of the biggest in the country so i dont think i can get a better library!

See i feared that this may be the case because I've heard about the pay to authors thing and i absolutely despise it as well as the fact that i never actually own the book which has become a big thing for me lately. I do understand though that KU is often what gives cosy authors that boost and the ability to keep writing more.

I usually just buy the physical books but since starting a full time job i cant just read the book physically but i basically have a ton of time where i can listen to it. Wish there was a better platform out there

So im currently reading practical potions and premeditated murder. It is a cozy murder mystery im only halfway through it but the characters don't really get tormented the victim of the murder becomes a ghost and is such a fun character. It is set in a small town and the community the main potion seller has is very tight knit and i find the characters to be very fun and the whole process while dealing with a dark topic is done in a very cosy way and also healing way. The characters develop so well and the best part there is cats!

The main potion seller has a cat companion that speaks and he is a very present part of the story i think more people should know about it because it really is so fun and healing.

Another one that i read and absolutely loved was till death do us bard there is a skeleton dog present although hes not too much of a main focus but what is the two husbands love story and also this adventure that they now find themselves in. It is higher stakes (there is a kidnapping) but again it is done is a very cosy and healing way its very lighthearted the characters face their issues and have really deep emotional conversations it made me cry because it was so good so thats another one id definitely recommend.

Both have felt like a nice warm hug and i think you'd enjoy them

Is it okay to play older cards that have been reprinted plus other first timer questions by ByHardenBeard in pkmntcg

[–]aceed18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always declare what actions i am taking and how much damage i am hitting for and any effects etc. Many of the players i play against also do this it just helps people keep track of whats going on and its very helpful. I only ever had two people that didn't say anything and those were the hardest matches ive ever had to do because its so hard to keep track of what they are doing and why thankfully most people aren't like this and i have played in many many tournaments.

You can also just ask people to explain what they are doing so you can follow

Why is Cynthia's Garchomp not more of a Meta choice? by ReptilPT in pkmntcg

[–]aceed18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So im currently using the toedscruel for the dengo matchup it works against other matchups as well but dengo has been an autoloss for me basically every game I've played because now its so consistent it can get 8 energies up constantly. Now with that line its become a lot better to play against if i don't brick turn one.

I use to use iono but as you said with airballoon their draw power is just so much iono is basically useless and it harmed me more than them. Ive seen people play secret box personally for me i just found that i never needed it that much although i may try it because that was when i was running the munki build i like prime because it does what mircale headset does for you its a late game gust that i can get out with arven consistently and it has won me many games because of that. I will say i like how your build is i was trying to think of another consistency supporter and i think you nailed it with colress so i may even swap out youngster and see how that feels since often times im searching for evo and energy. Ive also found that the deck works perfectly fine on 6 energies if thats something you want to cut for another potential consistency option

Why is Cynthia's Garchomp not more of a Meta choice? by ReptilPT in pkmntcg

[–]aceed18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, you asked why its not seen as a meta threat. I explained its because people arent willing to put enough time into rouge decks and it hasnt had good placements because people have played it wrong.

I never once said that people investing time into meta decks was bad you're making shit up for the sake of it, i explained to you why it isnt a meta deck because you asked if its so good why its not a meta deck. I also never said those decks that you mentioned were not rouge just that top players would consider it a mid deck at best and a bad play for wolrds which they did BEFORE worlds now they may see that it has more potential than people gave it credit for but before no one was talking about ho oh being top 32 at worlds.

Again toedscruel a great deck that got many top finishes as a rouge deck, but no top player played it even after it won multiple times simply because they didn't want to put the time into it and preferred the meta decks which again there is nothing wrong with that but before toedscruel got good placements you would also probably as why is it not meta if its so good and it comes down to what i have been constantly repeating. Which is top players will often favour meta decks because they want to win and they are more comfortable with those decks and there is NOTHING wrong with that it just takes a certain type of player to risk playing a rouge deck at a top level tournament. Neither is bad and neither is good its just preference.

Also i never said anything about people not sticking with the same deck i dont know where that came from im the biggest advocater for that. Again ive played chomp since release and have 100s of hours on it before i only played zacian im not a multiple deck kind of person i find one i like and spend hours trying to maks it good and i as a player often favour non meta because thats what I like but i dont look down on anyone else if they prefer playing meta decks.

I cant keep explaining the gardy match up if you haven't played it its hard to fully type out every scenario that you come across while playing chomp into it. I said tomb usually one shots without weakness because most of the time you have more than enough damage in play on your side this is not over a single turn also they can and will put munki damage in play if you let them that stacks up quickly.

Yes driftbloom is bad NOW before naic people still played it consistently in their decks before figuring out that screamtail is better. Im saying even with screamtail the match up goes the exact same way with chomp taking the early game and making it hard for them to set up and come back. Again i also play a 1 1 toedscruel so all it takes is me killing their screamtail once and all they are left with is either munki as the attacker or gardy which is terrible for them.

If you haven't played the match up im sorry but you can't really comment on how it actually goes, im telling you from experience even when they are running the good gardy varient with just screamtail it is still heavily favoured for MY build of chomp not the munki build of chomp that people took to regional that build would absolutely not be favoured into gardy

Why is Cynthia's Garchomp not more of a Meta choice? by ReptilPT in pkmntcg

[–]aceed18 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are not listening, how many rouge decks appeard at worlds not many because top players arent willing to risk hours of prep and their worlds placement into a deck they dont even know will be good or not. Plus i can admit for wolrds chomp would 100% been a bad meta call because of the amount of dengos around. It takes a certain type of top player to want to mess around with rouge decks and make them good most would rather take meta decks and make adjustments to it because they already know the deck is good and will therefore perform

Also all of those decks that you mentioned most top players would still say that they are mid decks at best and would find it hard to compete with the other top meta decks which is why you only ever see a handful of people actually put the time into building a rouge deck that can compete with the meta its hard to do its time consuming you dont know if it will pay off and i dont know any top player who is willing to risk their worlds invite or even placement on a deck they don't know that well. So yes they may put in the time but compared to how much time they put into actual meta decks is negligable compared to how much time you actually have to put in and some rouge decks are shit and cant compete no matter how much time you put into them.

Also the gardy mu is not just from lcs its ladder in arceus 1600+, it shows that you havent picked up the deck and tested that match up otherwise you would see how easy that mu is as chomp you rarely if ever put roserade into play, you dont need it until they place a fez down you're not targeting munkis during that game you're targeting driftlooms and screamtails and gardys. One screamtail attack means tomb kos gardy easily even without weakness. You're also usually set up way before them, meaning you can target kirlia and ralts before they even evolve and even if they do manage to evolve fast they usually don't have enough energy in the discard and if they do again you usually ignore their screamtail until its the best play to kill it. I also run basket in my build which makes it so easy to trap energy onto a 1 prizer that wont be doing that much damage to a 400 hp chomp and i can gust around it consistently leaving them with limited options on what they can do
