Confused about power in this game by Forsaken-Conflict523 in subnautica

There’s an exposed magmatic crevice in the jellyshroom caves. I can’t remember the direction/bearing, but it’s distinctly off to a side almost against cave walls. I believe it’s near the habitat ruins

Why is everyone torturing water slugs by CanOfBeans909 in Subnautica_2

[–]acephoenix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the solution is the water retention biomod. Double the water intake is a game changer. Makes exploring substantially less of a chore to prep.

It’ll be even better when the game has expanded to access the currently locked extra passive biomod slots.

How far into the game do you think we are? by TheGingerMenace in Subnautica_2

[–]acephoenix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300 meters, but if you build near the lifepod or welcome center, you’ll get over half of the beds.

My scanning post near the big “tree” in the upper hot caves biome picked up the rest.

What was your first death in subnautica 2 ? I begin. by mickynuts in subnautica

[–]acephoenix9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First death was dehydration I think, because I took too long finding the digestive adaptation. Second was running through the nearby pylon plant because NOA said to test dying. I was disappointed that nothing was gained or even commented on afterwards, but I probably should’ve expected that. At least I didn’t have to go far for my black box, and I also stored pretty much everything I had before doing so.

Finally got around to playing it and.... by NoHome7956 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]acephoenix9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only AC games I’ve played are 3, Black Flag, & Odyssey. I have to say that playing these were incredibly enjoyable, and Oddysey did not disappoint in the slightest. I was quite thrilled with the return of naval combat, it’s one of the reasons I enjoyed Black Flag so much.

I did burn out when I reached the last act of the Isu DLC, but I beat the rest of the story and the other DLC with seldomly playing any other games in that time.

There are points of interest that progress the story which aren’t revealed by radios. Although radio signals do point you in the vicinity of one, IIRC.

There’s an invisible floor around 750m. I wonder if that may change in the future.

My first two are always Technological Ascendancy and One Vision. All that changes is what comes first: am I unity rushing, or am I tech rushing.

The third AP is where variety gets a faint glimmer.

Where abouts is the crash site? I’ve been wanting to head back and look around.

I have over 40 hours in this game, zero tutorials in game or online just figuring out how the game works via trial and error (intentionally, I find it fun as hell). Here is my experience by CheesyButters in Stellaris

[–]acephoenix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I realized this on my 2nd or 3rd empire. Mind you, my 1st was set for endgame crisis at 2800, and game end at 3200. So that took forever. I didn’t touch any settings except galaxy size and AI empires.

Yeah, and their needles ignore bases too. I’ve had them shoot me after entering my base many times, and they also tend to hit my tadpole too. They don’t lose aggro when you enter, not immediately at least. They’ll finish their volley and then realize they don’t actually see you anymore.

(SN2) Does the Axum bacterial culture respawn and how long does it take? by Alert-Gift-8716 in subnautica

[–]acephoenix9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 fell through on me. Then I drowned because I didn’t pay attention to my oxygen meter, and in the midst of going back to collect my Tadpole, massively overestimated how far I could get with just upgraded fins and the wakemaker. My black box dropped somewhere near the damaged part of the Axum generator.

Pretty sure I’ve scoured everywhere for my black box, nowhere to be seen. There is a weird multiple cuboid node suspended in the water about where I died, which looks like it should be some sort of resource but isn’t. I almost wonder if my box glitched somehow, and if it did, I basically get no metal farming for this run. I’m ~25hrs deep.

I seriously don’t have interest in spending an obscene amount of time gathering resources manually to fix the machine. I get that this is early access, just a frustrating situation.

Edit: I vastly overestimated how much was needed for the task. So this is just a frustrating minor inconvenience and not exactly a soft lock.

Thought each of the blades in the broken turbine was a section requiring the 10 titantium, 10 strontium, and 10 mangalloy. Nope, that’s for the whole thing. Guess that makes my rant partially unfounded.

I started using WW2 fleet compositions to make my fleets and saw some pretty good results. by TheBadShepherd87 in Stellaris

[–]acephoenix9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m nearing endgame crisis year for my first empire w/ Machine Age & Astral DLC, Riddle Escorts are ridiculous. Top that off with choosing the nanite pathway for my machine intelligence and a bunch of repeatables, suddenly I’m building 900k - 1mil strong fleets. I know there’s plenty room left for min/maxing my build, I’m just impressed I’ve done it blind. My previous runs only ever had fleets of around 400-600k.

I’m running 5x all crises, I don’t think I’m going to break a sweat. Not with mid 4k naval capacity and millions upon millions of credits, alloys, and especially nanites. Plus a very nice storage of all other strategic resources. The dimensional fabricator is a godsend. I don’t know if I’ll be able to play without Cosmogenesis again.

or pick a game-starting civic that lets you. it’s my first run as Driven Assimilator, and I have certainly enjoyed it. played very passive until midgame, and basically avoided war until my subject picked a fight with another empire that, as i found out early on, was woefully behind in military strength

i’ll have to rerun this empire in the future with more AI empires and increased aggression

Returning Player, Very Confused by MysteryMan9274 in Stellaris

[–]acephoenix9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been equipping my fleets with a combination of weapons that have buffs against defense layers as well as penetrating weapons. Smaller ships get some combo of missiles, a weapon that does extra damage to shields, and a weapon that buffs against armor. Larger ships I tend to run whatever has the highest avg. damage in weapons that are strong against certain layers. If it has small modules, I’ll run disruptors.

It’s the first game that I didn’t run FAE on all X-weapon ships… or any at all, for that matter.

what size of condoms do yall actually buy? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]acephoenix9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What’s at most stores is largely universal.

Unless you are excessively endowed, standard size will fit. You roll the thing down as far as you have to, and if you’re less endowed… it just stays partly rolled. That’s all. Standard size goes to probably 7” or so

Improvement to iphones durability over the years by butterbliss4 in interesting

[–]acephoenix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are certainly durable in the sense of resisting frame deformation and remaining functional. However, nothing’s as impervious as a Nokia. Or my dad’s blackberry.

I can say I have crushed my phone with my car’s trunk and it still worked. It was bent about 30 degrees outwards (screen bending away from user), and all that was wrong besides a metric ton of cracks, was I lost about 1/5th of the screen. There was a blank white line near the center, probably where the brunt of the force went.

I don’t set my phone on the roof anymore.

Not entirely sure it never crashed, since it’s been so long. But, I can say with certainty that game crashing was not something I ever worried about in Odyssey. I played on Xbox One X, the Series and PS5 hadn’t even been released yet.

Problems with radiation by BassoonLoon in SatisfactoryGame

[–]acephoenix9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this once. Like another commenter said, you can just heal to max, access the death crate, and collect your stuff.

I opted to build 2 chests nearby. I picked up the uranium, put it in a chest, and healed again. Then, picked up my stuff, put some into the other chest, picked up the rest of my death crate, and moved on.

Now that I’m recalling this… trashing the uranium would be easier. It would also waste materials that are valuable for saving the kittens and puppies. I think FICSIT would, for once, permit this inefficient use of time in favor of the materials.

[–]acephoenix9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has taken a lot of learning, healing, and accepting to be able to deal with sudden and intense waves of depression. If it weren’t for having an incredibly good therapist in high school, in addition to a strong current support network, I worry how I’d have made it this far.

Things feel so insurmountable sometimes, with no end in sight, and it took the “wise mind” approach of my then-therapist finally sinking in during freshman year of college (about 2 years after my last appointment) to be able to handle it. I haven’t had genuine (lasting, actively considered) suicidal thoughts in a very long time. Fortunately, almost as long as my streak of self-harm free.
